On-loan Burnley midfielder Danny Drinkwater, who was recently involved in a nightclub brawl, is facing more humiliation after video footage of the incident emerged.

The former Premier League winning star, who is spending five months at Turf Moor on loan from Chelsea, hit the headlines after images of his bruised and battered face emerged at the end of August - the latest blow to an already faltering top-flight career.

Now, the Daily Star appear to have footage from the incident in Manchester that shows Drinkwater aiming a headbutt at fellow professional footballer Kgosi Ntlhe, who plays for Scunthorpe United.

Surely there must be a way to hold him in breach of contract at this point.

Every pro American sport  I am aware of has a clause that if you go out and do something like this the team can dismiss you and your salary does not count against the team.

Chelsea Must Cut Ties With Midfielder

http://chelseafconline.com/2019/11/chelsea-must-cut-ties-with-midfielder/

Danny Drinkwater could potentially be sent back to Chelsea from Burnley during the January transfer window, according to a report which was published by The Sun.  The 29-year-old’s career has undergone a downward spiral since his arrival at Stamford Bridge back in 2017 from Leicester City.

After having been deemed surplus to requirements by the Blues during the summer following the arrival of Frank Lampard as manager of the club, he should the Clarets on loan for this season but has been unable to break into Sean Dyche’s first-team plans.

Things have been so bad for the three times capped England international that he has not even made a single appearance for the Clarets this season.

Leaving Leicester was a terrible move by Drinkwater

Drinkwater played a crucial role in terms of helping the Foxes to win the Premier League title during the 2015/16 season under Claudio Ranieri. He was even on the radar of the England national team prior to his arrival at Stamford Bridge in 2017 and had he stayed at Leicester, may have been in contention for the England squad which competed in the World Cup in Russia last year.

During his time with Chelsea, Drinkwater has so far managed to make just 23 appearances in all competitions and scored one goal. He was completely frozen out of the club’s first-team plans by Maurizio Sarri ahead of the 2018/19 season and was basically just paid to do nothing as he made just one appearance in all competitions last season.

Drinkwater’s involvement in a brawl outside a night-club in September has not done his reputation any good. Burnley may well be looking to get rid of him during the January transfer window. If Chelsea do indeed end up getting him back, they must also aim to get rid of him and transfer list him.

Teammate raves about Chelsea loanee who ‘fits perfectly’

https://www.teamtalk.com/news/teammate-raves-about-chelsea-loanee-who-fits-perfectly

Burnley left-back Erik Pieters has said that he is happy to see his teammate and Chelsea-owned midfielder Danny Drinkwater finally play in the Premier League this season.

Drinkwater joined Burnley on loan from Premier League rivals Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

The 29-year-old, who is scheduled to stay at the Clarets until January 6, made his league debut for Sean Dyche’s side in their 4-1 defeat to Manchester City at Turf Moor on Tuesday evening.

The former Leicester City midfielder, who had been on the sidelines for almost three months after suffering an ankle injury in an incident outside a Manchester nightclub, started the match and played for 59 minutes.

Pieters was pleased to see Drinkwater finally make his Premier League debut for Burnley, and hopes that he gets more playing time.

“I’m really happy for him,” Pieters said about Drinkwater. ”He’s waited for a long time to be in the team and I’m happy for him to get his first performance in. He would have been happier if we got a result I’m sure, but at least he got his first minutes in with us. Hopefully he can continue.
