Another useless signing...

What about the defenders?!... :fist:

Useless? Did you see our midfield? We have Kante,Fabregas,Chalobah and maybe Oscar if he is consistent and Matic and Mikel are awful.

its my opinion... 90% of those brazillian players are flops...

opinions and factual %  are contradicting.

Still, signing a young promising (flop or not) Brazilian CM makes no difference to us signing a defender.

So? you sure that a random guy from brazil, that did a few nice things on youtube and against weak teams, can save us?

look at our defence first.

You can improve the defence but if the midfield is bad then our defence is gonna be just as bad.Our midfielders need to support our defence which they haven't done with Kante of course is gonna get better but Kante can't play alone he needs someone and Thiago Maia would be great.

For 20m€ that Santos wants for him, we're entering Kante's territory of value for money reasonability.

How is £17m entering  kantes territory?

Kante cost £32m and that is under his true value of £40+

And what's the market value in current's market for the next great central midfielder from Brazil ?

Of course nothing beats Kante but Thiago Maia for 20m€ is quite great if you ask me.

You're so annoyingly ignorant

"Random guy" if you don't know much about him fine but don't act like he is some nobody. He is a young Brazilian who plays for the biggest Brazilian team and now is getting a look in at the national level who is being scouted by a number of big European club.

Us signing him has ZERO effect on our pursuit of a top Defender. Clubs are able to scout, negotiate and sign more that one player at a time.

Useless? The guy is one of the most talented youngsters in the world. It would be a great signing. Just because we sign him before we sign defenders doesn't mean he's useless.

Some flawed logic. It's like saying "hey, let's not sign Lewandowski because most Polish football players aren't top top level".

Have you ever seen him play to even call him useless, or a flop? Just because you've never heard of him doesn't mean he is a random player. He is a very highly rated young man.

Also, surely you know clubs can negotiate for more than one player at the same time? Come on.

None of our talented Brazilians have really worked out for us. Ramires, Oscar, Willian, Pato, Kenedy, etc. The level of talent is really low in Brazilian football right now and we should just stay away. He'll probably end up just like Kenedy with us if he signs.

He's a bigger talent than all of those though. That's like saying let's not sign a young Neymar because Brazil's talent pool is thin. It's ridiculous to judge a player on his nationality, you know maybe try watch him play before making assumptions.

How can you really know that for sure ? If he was a bigger talent more clubs would be into him and the price would be higher. I bet 90% of the people on this forum hadn't even heard of him 1 month ago.

Who heard of Cech before we signed him?

I can kinda see what he's saying. Is this guy the real deal? Our past dealings don't exactly inspire that much confidence. We just had Pato on loan ffs!

Those signing are exceptions. We already have too many players who play two games and are never heard of again. Our rivals, who were already ahead of us last season have gone and spent record money on established talent. We can't be betting on hopes any more.

Why do so many Chelsea fans (on here and especially on Twitter) lump Willian in with "flops?" So unappreciative. He's one of our best players, ffs.

Anyways, if this kid being thought of as an immediate first team player or is he "one for the future" who will be loaned out never to be heard from again? Even if he's a replacement if for Matic if he's sold, what would signing this kid mean for Chalobah and RLC?

Just seems kinda weird that if we're after another midfield target it wouldn't be a significant upgrade. This seems like huge gamble rather than just going and signing more of a sure thing.
