Agree and disagree with that. They are players of completely different characteristics - reckon Rashford is the more sought after for being skillful, therefore, the more valuable of the two - even if Tammy becomes a consistent goal scorer. In an off-day, Rashford will always be more likely to contribute even if not scoring. (will be good for England to have both tho) And I'm writing this after Tammy struggled against valencia. He links the play almost as well as Giroud does, in my honest opinion! Ryan made one superb save 1v1 (you might argue Tammy should have scored, but it was a decent finish and excellent goalkeeping, in truth), but what I liked most was his high pressing, which almost resulted in him stealing a goal from a poor back pass. The thing that surprises me the most about him is that he is quite an intelligent footballer with a good understanding of the game, and he is able to appraise the situation quite well for a young player. Absolutely! I meant at the technical level, which he already appears close to lukaku. I still hope he surpasses him there too tho. in the mentality aspect, he’s about several light years ahead. Loses the football and chases the taker... great to see. His finishing today was really good! He probably wanted a cleaner first touch, but the way he adjusted his body was great. It's not only that imo. He scored a lot of goals for United but fans there were never happy with him. Similar to Michy in that regard. Scoring goals but looks poor in the games. Neither do I but say hypothetically that's the type of player he ends up he can still be a good as a squad player. United fans I know would have been more than happy for Rom to have remained in a lesser role, but he wasn't having that. Tammy's work rate and attitude will stop that from happening. Even when he's struggling to make an impact on a game his work rate and pressing can't be faulted and as he gets older and more experienced he'll definitely become a better all round player with his hold up play, etc. I personally feel from a technical level that he can exceed Lukaku. Being an academy player too will just offer that extra bit of support from fans when it's needed. Hell, I have a mate who's a United fan and still loves Lingard! Bit off topic, but I was also thinking last night I see Dele Alli very much in the same light. He has regressed so much he's looked a shadow for a long time now and offers practically nothing. He, arguably like Kevin de Bruyne here as well, felt entitled that he should be a number 1 option and didnt want to fight for his place. Basically did the same at Man United now when Soljskaer lost faith in him. That for me shows a flaw in his mentality, that he isnt up for competition and thinks of himself being better than some of his team mates. Healthy competition should make players better. Should. At United that last season, he regressed with competition from Rashford and Martial. Will he throw the dummy out at Inter eventually if he doesnt start every week? De Bruyne is a different situation as he was literally getting no minutes. Lukaku had the chance at the age of 20 to be immediate back up which would have yielded a lot of minutes.
