Rather just not buy a CB and pool all the money towards a CM if we can't get Stones. Garay will be 29 in a couple of months and will himself need replacing in just a few short years. We don't need a stopgap back there, we need someone who will lock down a spot and actually improve as the years go by rather than decline like Garay will.

Garay is not bad.

We should aim higher than ''not bad''.

One moment we're supposedly looking at JT's successor, the next we settle for this? Hoping it's a leak timed in conjunction with Stones' transfer request to force Everton to take the money and run while they have the chance.

This is the plan B then.

No mate plan 'C' - Varane/Stones/Garay - Slips off the tongue

To be honest I dont know the slightest thing about him unless its what Ive just been going thru our good friend Mr Google.

What I dont like is he is very nearly 29 which is one reason we are in the shite right now. BUT if its as a stop gap and we are promised someone next season then Meh!

If LINKS mean anything at all then havig him linked to Barca/manure and those north Londoners COULD mean hes got summet worth wanting at least.

Does getting him get me excited.NO. But we do need CB backups we can trust.

I just hope we have options for CM apart from Pogba!

It would be repeating the same mistake we made by not signing Luke Shaw. Young English player who clearly has the potential to be great and nail down our LB spot for years, but we scoffed at the price and bought 29 year old Filipe Luis instead.

Same thing will happen here if we don't buy Stones. United next summer will happily pay the money and we may settle for a 29 year old Garay instead.

Hope it's just a ploy to pressure Stones into asking for a move. Or it's just made up bullshit.

Yes because we are clearly choosing not to sign stones....

I prefer Stones, but the club needs a plan B.
You know the same people complaining about going for Garay would complain even more if no CB was signed.

Honestly, Garay is an experienced and skilled ball-playing defender. Mou also knows him having trained him before. My main concern is with his lack of pace, I like playing a higher line and a slow CB is always going to make this difficult.
It all comes down to the price, he is going to be 29 soon, and while defenders last longer I would prefer someone around the age of 25-27. If it isnt too expensive I would be quite happy with this purchase.
