Thinking about it. The negative impact of the Torres transfer is greater than just the transfer fee and result on the pitch. He essentially prevented us from getting prime Falcao when AVB joined from porto and was greatly responsible for Sturridge departure as we were determined to make the £50m investment work by all means. Not to mention we passed up Aguero for him.

Falcao at his best was easily better than Costa. We all know he'll never reach that level again. I think Costa would have to go without scoring for a long, long stretch to be benched.

But Costa leading the line has proved successful in terms of his teams winning league titles, Falcao not so much, and its team first.

I honestly believe he will hit close to 40 in all comps with an injury free season.

Utilise him right and he is unplayable. However he will probably not get the credit he deserves even then due to the obsession with technical game in the average footy fan.

Costa is one of the top 7 strikers in Europe, he'll not sit on the bench for anyone.

Worst case scenario is he'll play on the wing if another striker is also playing really well.
