In many games Costa drifts to the left wing anyways so this seems like a likely scenario

Falcao

Costa Hazard Willian

Drifting to the left side and actually playing on the left are two different things...

So maybe we should use Ivanovic as a right winger, because he likes to drift to the right wing anyway.

Costa-Falcao strikeforce can be brutal when playing some annyoingly stubborn defences like Southampton's or West Ham's. a nice old-fashioned 4-4-2 also would spare us Oscar's usual incompetence at the no.10 position. However it only would make sense if we also play filipe luis or another decent crosser. Having lost his anyway not exactly blistering pace, the only way falcao still scores is from his quick reactions after crosses. Not even sure if still has that crazy leap tho.

btw i have no idea what he will cost. I suppose 25-30m when he is not worth anything above 15 and on huge wages, this would be a huge gamble on a 29 y.o. striker in rapid decline.

Imagine those two in a genuine 4-4-2. Matic and Cesc holding, with width supplied from Hazard and Willian. Balls into feet to link in the final third with Costa; balls in the air for Falcao to attack (despite his size he is still a phenomenal aerial player). An excellent, genuine "Plan B" against, as you say, the more stubborn teams who are happy to sit deep and give us a lot of time and space when in possession.

As for the cost, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. Almost very source I've identified has suggested it will be a loan deal. If he's useless, it'll have cost us next to nothing. If he does a half decent job but doesn't warrant the price suggested in the follow-up fee, as United demonstrated, we aren't beholden to anything and can always negotiate a cheaper deal (potentially a cash-plus-player transaction; Mikel may well become useful for something ). We can't lose out with this transfer, IMO. His loan fee will be around £3-5 million, I guess, which is what United paid. Can't go wrong with that. More exceptional manipulation of the transfer market by the club.

Not sure why people keep taking it as a given that Costa will again have an injury riddled season. He has a chance to get his surgery and rehab before next season. He should be completely healthy coming into next season.

What I dont understand is why Costa was not in the hospital getting sorted on the monday after Palace. It would have been done and dusted with him safely in the magic hands of Doc Eva. I just dont get it.

As for El Tigre its time to start getting behind the lad whatever we thought of him in red.

Its hard for players to change teams sometimes let alone countries, leagues, managers, styles of play etc. Mou is a clever sod and hes not a sentimental pushover so if he thinks hes good enough for us with all the players hes got logged down having had his beedy eyes on then we should start to do our job. You might not think much to Falcao but trust that Mou knows what hes doing.

I think Jose would know about falcao better than anyone here...

I think it's a brilliant move, but bamford won't be here next season and remy, falcao and costa is looking like the best cf combo in epl.
