I don't think if we sign Falcao we are keeping Torres, if we were looking at a player with lesser wage demands possibly but we can't really have 2 forwards who earn 200k p/w while playing with just one up top.

And playing with two up top is counter productive based on the players we bought - it means we need to sit out one hell of a player.

IF we really do buy Falcao in January, I don't think we're gonna let Torres go, not till next summer anyway. We only have 2 strikers right now. Why buy 1 and then let 1 go and leaves us still with only 2 then? Makes no sense whatsoever!

Spot on. Unless Atletico themselves want to include Torres in the deal, which might happen.

Anyone see us buying Falcao with Torres used as a swap?

I don't see why torres wouldnt want to go back, and i dont see Athletico complaining with Torres plus a bunch of cash.

I think us having Falcao and Torres and sturridge will lead to Torres getting upset, and Sturridge leaving at the end of his contract - so i dont think we can keep Torres.

If falcao ends up coming to the PL and its not our club, then we would have really missed out there. the only otehr club i can see getting him is Man City, and by god that would piss me off. Only thing is surely Man city wouldnt buy another striker, they have too much quality in that position already.

Im getting wet thinking of Oscar, Mata and Hazard behind Falcao. good god what a line up!

Mancini was watching the A. Madrid game so it's possible that they are interested in him.

It's not that easy because of torres super high salary. He is almost unmovable unles we are willing to subsidize his salary

I don't think you understand what one dimensional means. He is one dimesional because nearly all of his goals come from either penalites of from inside the box. But that is not all, what else does Falcao provide except goals? He isn't a hard worker, he doesn't win many duels or dirbble that well, he doesn't shoot from distance, he doesn't take free kicks, he doesn't cross the ball, he doesn't pass all that well, he can't take corners, he isn't overly fast, he can't play out wide or in the hole, so please tell me what is so spectacular about Falcao besides his ability to find that net?

Being a brilliant finisher is all well and good, but I want more than that. I want somebody like Del Piero or Franceso Totti. I won't complain about signing Falcao, but I think there is just a better fitting player out there. A lot of people just seem to be in a circle jerk about Falcao, and I think it's pretty naive to think that Falcao will just waltz right in score 30+ goals and win every trophy under the sun. There is more to football than just putting it in the back of the net.

Just because they can finish does not make them a good footballer, look at Mario Jardel...I'm not saying that Falcao will end up like him, just htink about it.

Great post.

Since when in Roman times has a goal scoring forward ever worked for us?.

We need more than that, a team player, who works for the team to score rather than himself, like Drogba did. Also have his own abillities with him, like Drogba was great at playing with his back to goal, brilliant at turning players with a first touch from a huge long ball in the air. He was also the best big game player ever.

Though we won't find that. We need a good team work striker, someone who's best abillity isn't scoring goals, but goals come with him instead, where his main highlight is workin for the team. Maybe a player with pace this time and nice bit of vision. I don't know but we can replace Drogba, and i know for damn certain a poacher or goal scoring forward isn't going to do it.

Mancini is like a kid in candy . Isco is an am and city has nadri and silva. The also have 4 wc strikers. I persobally don't think city need any reinforcement

Actually their back up for Nasri and Silva is very poor, considering how deep they are in strikers, full backs and midfielders.

You dont always need more than one AM back up if you play with two in your line up, but Sinclair is nowhere near the highest level. but thats the player they wanted so...

Atletico Madrid will not part with Radamel Falcao in January, but have hinted that they could be persuaded to cash-in on the highly-rated striker next summer.

"€60 million for Falcao would solve all the economic problems at Atletico," general manager Gil Marin told COPE Radio.

"I can say for sure, though, that he will stay with us until the end of the season. Not only will he stay, but so will all the players that the coach wants to stay.

"We will fight to perform a miracle which is what we are doing with what we have available.

"In Europe there are 50 clubs with more income than we have. If we were to sell Falcao for €60 million then that would cover our debts."

"If Atletico do not qualify for the Champions League or cannot afford to meet his wage demands then I do not think that Real Madrid could afford him either," he continued.

"We have to do impossible things and take risks so that the fans can have the team that they want. It is difficult to maintain."
