🇨🇴 Radamel Falcao

Mourinho keeps his cards close to his chest, the media is always going to try to make sense of things. Their agent will always keep Mourinho and Falcao linked but I don't think for second the club is going to sign Falcao, we don't want someone who will be in their 30's at the end a short contract with us. EVERY other option intrigues me more through either the benefit of a young player or a far cheaper option than Falcao. Cavani would obviously make us a really feared team but PSG isn't that type of club and unless Cavani is so unhappy he becomes useless we don't have a shot at signing him for any reasonable fee. That leaves Costa, Balotelli, Mandzukic, Doumbia and L. Muriel all look to me as better options. Monaco also have Falcao spoiled as I read somewhere that he makes 12m tax free, we would have to put him on 450k/week to match his pay in London apparently. So Falcao has the potential to worse than 100 Fernandos should we experience the worst case scenario or a Torres like scenario. Falcao sold out moving to Monaco these are the kind of moves that create the Torres effect in players as they get greedy, can we really expect a goal machine when it looks like his motivation to be best has been replaced by his motivation to the richest?

I hope it's true, Colombians bought 65k tickets for the World Cup and it would be a shame if their primary player couldnt participate...

As for us signing him, I wouldnt mind it tbh. He is a fantastic player and people dont like to give him half the credit he deserves. He is way better than Diego Costa!

I know he is coming out of a big knee injury, but he can definitely recover from it. Ronaldo (fat) had 2 of those more than a decade ago and he came back to win a WC in huge style. So did Adrian Peterson, in only 8 months btw. Not saying we shouldnt be worried, but it doesnt mean Falcao is done just because he had a knee injury.

Of course I would prefer Cavani (I'd have actually signed him last summer), but if it is for the right amount (30-35mi), I cant see it doing us any harm...

I think it depends whether he will get enough playing time to get into form for before WC.

I'm pretty sure he will be brought into squad as long as he can play but playing player that just recovered from long injury tends to cause problems than good.

Agree, but it is always better to have Falcao on the squad...

More than Colombia's top player, he is their biggest leader in the dressing room!

His injury is probably just a fake thing, to drop his price tag, since he wants to leave Monaco.

He's a professional is he not? Even if this were true I'd find it so unprofessional a player like this would be toxic to our club or anyone's for that matter.

Monaco would definitely sell him as they need the money to go towards complying with FFP and they have Berbatov, Germain and Riviere, If Falcao has a good World Cup i could definitely see us bidding for him.

Why buy him?

He's the same case as Torres, coming of a major injury and might force himself into the world cup hurting himself even more.....

stop comparing him to Torres! yes the situation is some what similar but Falcao is a very different player to Torres! Falcao doesn't rely on explosive acceleration and pace like Torres did, Falcao has more to his game and is much better technically then Torres ever was.

Ronaldo suffered a horrible injury and when he came back he lost some pace and explosiveness but he never solely relied on his pace like Torres did so he was able to comeback and still have a great career after his terrible injury! I believe that is how Falcao will be, he will comeback and still be a class and clinical finisher.

Hmmm if that's true then people should have known that before buying Torres. That such injuries would have done that. But nobody knew. Similar here, nobody knows so why take the risk?

And to be fair, for 25 million is not a bad risk as it was for 50....

With that sort of injury caution has to play a part, he's been out a long time now, so much so it's as if articles read that he is being 'rushed back for the WC' rather than the timing being perfect. Any element of doubt from the medical staff then he shouldn't be risked, life goes on after the WC and that is the big key point. Any wrong decision can end his career in seconds, and that goes for anyone.

Look no further than Essien in how a career can just nose-dive after a big injury.
