Sheva. 5,373
Should have just sold him, no point in a loaning out old players like Essien and Benayoun. Blue Armour
Heisenberg 1,824
Idiot direction , thats my point of view , Micheal Essien is far better that Mikel , he needed time and he looked sharp in the pre season matches , but DI Matteo seems to forget that he is a leader , a big big lost. We'll fucking play with Mikel or Romeu or Meireles in this position , the season will be very long :-(
capriccioso 2,545
Lol, he'll get about 3 games at Real Madrid, all of them stoppage time substitutions at right back.We should have loaned him to some Scottish Third Division shite if we wanted to give him regular game time. BleedsBlue 1,549
I doubt Essien is going to return back.A good loan move will only increase his market value and thats all.
Joe Ay 66
If he can't get a starting berth in our midfield of Mikel, Mereiles and Lampard, hard to imagine he'll start before Alonso, Khedira and Modric. Doesn't really make sense at all to me. Unless we wanted to remove his wages from our payroll this year.
termninja 5,290
Maybe Mourinho will get him to be a class player, and it will be like signing a great player when he comes back. (thats as about optimistic as i can get for this move)Perhaps, but he will be 30 years old with an awful injury record.
Jase 43,479
Should have just sold him, no point in a loaning out old players like Essien and Benayoun.Problem is they are on high wages and not many clubs out there can afford them. The fact that Benayoun is on 92k p/w wages here says it all. Muzchap
Muzchap 8,966
I think the Board are trying to see what our Financial position looks like once all these guys off the books. If we can start breaking even, that would be great

Buffalo talks Blue 85
Not happy with this loan at all. First of all we needed him. Mikel's not gonna do and after the game last night..this 'Mikel-Lamps' doesn't works! Besides, Mereiles does nothing at all. And there is absolutely no guarantee that Mourinho will keep him in his starting 11. Essien will be benched most of the times. Mourinho's gonna bring him only when RM plays clubs like Granada, Villarreal, Sociedad. So this transfer is doing no good to anyone. Why did RDM even agree on this stupid loan? CHOULO19 24,332
Would've preferred we sold him, but I guess the board are still betting that there is a small chance he can regain some of his old self. BTW, are we or Madrid paying his wages?

I don't think it was a bad move, so long as they are playing his wages. Watching him play last season was a bit like watching a cripple trying to finish a marathon. The mind is willing, but the body isn't. RamiCFC9

He did play that way, but what I am saying is the midfield's gonna look weak.
