OneMoSalah 8,887
To be fair Austin and Vardy are better (pure) strikers than Rooney for me, I'd rather see him in defensive midfield while Carrick is out.Ih? Are you mad haha.Austin having a 15M price tag is so strange its unbelievable. Hes one dimensional, other than the one goal he scored against Southampton he has never displayed a good level of technique. When Danny Murphy (well I think it was Danny Murphy) said he was surprised no teams had moved for him for 15M I generally laughed. Leicester would suit him well, but someone like Everton, Southampton, Liverpool, Spurs... even then he would look out of his depth. He is like Rickie Lambert, a good player for smaller clubs but in the real world he is not even as good as Rickie Lambert. although to be fair for a big English number 9 Lambert has actually got some pretty good technical ability which he displayed at Southampton. Jamie Vardy is just a headless chicken. Rooney is by far the best option England have upfront and he should play either in a 4-2-3-1 behind Sturridge or 4-4-2 in tandem with him. VVardy is like a Willian that isn't afraid to run onto passes and can shoot. With all the attacking talent in England's line up (Ox-Chamb, Wilshere, Carrick, Sterling, etc etc) he would be a perfect number 9 for England, obviously he is no Drogba but he was a once in a generation striker. Muzchap 8,966
Still think this guy is worth £15 million I don't care how flash he is, what he can or can't do - as long as he puts the ball in the netHe done / is doing that for a shit QPR side and can do the same at any other club I would have taken him over Falcao (even though I hope and pray Falcao returns to devastating form)I dont know much about his injury record - but he played a lot of games last season. Sometimes you just need a natural finisher/poacher and that's what this guy is.

Jase 43,479
People moaning about not signing Austin. I know we need new players but there's no need for desperation here.

Fulham Broadway 17,339
Has been a good buy for 4m. Finding a player 2 miles down the road in Shepherds Bush doesnt enter Buckenalos remit though. To fit the Chelsea profile they got to be foreign, unheard of, expensive, and then willing to go out on loan never to be heard of again.
Hybrid Angel 2,130
Don't think he is the type of player to be happy at being second choice. We would have ruined his career if we signed him just like we did with Remy.
Jase 43,479
Don't get why people think we made a mistake in not signing Austin (mainly saying this based on the reaction I've seen elsewhere). Yes, we need goalscorers but we also need someone who is capable of challenging Costa for that No.1 spot. We don't need someone who will be just there to add depth or provide cover. Already have that in Remy and it makes no sense to add another player with similar role in the squad. On top of that, while Austin is a decent player who guarantees goals, the same few fellas who complain about us not signing him would probably be the same ones who moan about us having a squad filled with average players down the line. Fulham Broadway 17,339
Falcing useless has had at least 4m in wages so far The club is a shambles. The rot is at the top and has filtered down. A bunch of arse lickers and business men who know sod all about football. Winning trophies has papered over cracks for years. There seems to be no cohesive plan forward. Hire manager....sack manager....put promising young players out on loan....let contract run down....player ends up in lower leagues. Rinse and repeat. ulsterchelsea 3,221
Oh look...Austin scores and now he's the hottest topic in the transfer section. Damn you board/roman for not having the benefit of the shortest hindsight ever. Give over, he's never in our league even at this woeful junction
