Debate:SHOULD CHELSEA KEEP JUAN CUADRADO?

Quote

Juan Cuadrado helped Juventus win their fifth Serie A title in a row last weekend. His been in fine form of late scoring some amazing goals most notably against Palermo and Bayern Munich in the Champions League. His approaching 40 appearances this season and at times has looked every part of the player which saw Chelsea pay Fiorentina £23million in January 2015 for his services.

Juventus are keen to open talks with Chelsea over the permanent signing of the Colombian but new Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is considering bringing him back to Stamford Bridge for next season.

Conte had time to watch the winger closely while visiting his old club as manager of the Italian national team in preparation for this summers European Championships. His a long time admirer, before Cuadrado moved to Chelsea he attempted to sign him while manager of Juve.

Juve director Giuseppe Marotta has said his hopeful of persuading Chelsea to sell the winger this summer.

“We have not held talks with Chelsea yet over Cuadrado, but it will be a complicated deal as well, just like with Morata,” he said.

“Juan has been important to us, but he is only on loan. Chelsea are well stocked in his position, though, so we will try to make a deal.”

If he does move on in the summer Chelsea are well stocked in Cuadrado’s playing position with the likes of Eden Hazard, Willian, Pedro and Kenedy who all operate on the wing. There’s also Victor Moses on loan at rivals West Ham who is set to return in June.

When you see Cuadrado in the kind of form been showing this season it makes you wonder what happened during his time at Chelsea. Was it simply just a case of the Premier League being to physical and not for everyone or Mourinho’s tactics?

I don't follow transfer rumors, but are we linked with Bonucci? Seems a rather random one..

Morata I'd absolutely love to see here but I think it's unlikely he'd want to come next season with no CL football, and it's not like he has a special relation with Conte to be swayed.

Would absolutely love to have either of those players.

We have been linked with Bonucci several times. Although the possibility that he'd Join Chelsea seemed to have been reliably quashed, it resurfaced again this weekend.

Like everyone else, I doubt that our stock is high enough to attract class A players. It is high enough however for agents to use our supposed interest for their own reasons.

Conte chased Juan for almost two seasons at Juve, expect to see him back here next season.

Would be the right move too. This guy needs a chance. A proper one.

People are so quick to jump on a player if he isn't immediately impactful. He has been superb at Juventus. In fact, he has been superb everywhere he has played apart from for Mourinho.

Conte clearly sees something he likes in him, and I would trust his knack for it seeing what a magnificent job he has done everywhere he has been.

He has done a 'magnificent job' in Italian football. English football is a different beast.

I wouldn't mind him coming back. But with Hazard and Willian already in the team, I'd rather cash in on him and buy a young and highly talented winger as a back-up/rotation player. Or better yet, bring back Musonda.

We were an offensively limited team. I want to see this guy given room to operate. The Italian league is a little bit slower and these fast wingers look a little better than most places, but he is a quality player. This myth of English football being a level above, or something special just isn't so. Cuadrado can be a successful player in this league, and with Conte in charge, I think he will be.

Never said English football is special but its' without a doubt a level above the Serie A.

I wasn't even referring to the level of the league though. English football is faster and far more aggressive. A lot of Serie A imports don't do well in English football.

Cuadrado was used for specific tactical set-ups and as an impact sub. He wasn't even a starter for Juve. He's a good player but he's a trial-and-error player. He'll produce a couple of good moments but also produce a lot of bad plays. A big reason for his 'inconsistency'. I've never seen him as player cut out for top level football and he hasn't been able to change my mind. He can be very dangerous because of his speed, agility and directness. Which makes him useful as a squad player. But his time in England suggests he's not suited to the game there, he's too slow in the mind.

He was at his place at Fiorentina and teams of a similar level in my opinion. Salah for example is a slightly better player imo but he's not good enough either.

I wouldn't go as far as calling him a quality player, but he's a good option to have. His physical presence (nonexistent) is the worry I have and it was evident under Mou

Watched him play for Columbia today against Peru and still not convinced he's good enough to be a first team player for us. His fast and quite strong but his balance, decision making and movement is below average. We won't win titles with players like this in our starting 11. Sell him and use the funds to raise the quality in our starting 11.
