WNDS 502
https://twitter.com/DiMarzio/status/558588858389233664It seems that the potential deal for Cuadrado is stalling badly at the moment. Douglas Costa currently more likely according to Di Marzio.

Pizy 18,922
I really hope we don't settle for Douglas Costa if we dont get Cuadrado. I'd rather just keep what we have. He's not an upgrade at all.

ChelseaFanUK 1,014
Am totally expecting Mourinho to be really coy about everything today, or knowing Jose, deny it all. So good at playing his cards close to his chest. Still think the Cuadrado deal will happen soon as Salah or Schurrle go, but it is normal to have backups
Pizy 18,922
Just when I'm starting to really warm to the idea of Cuadrado, shit is starting to go wrong and we may settle for a mediocre player instead.

I don't think we will know for sure Cuadrado deal is dead until Salah or Schurrle have gone. I think we all expect us to stick another bid (or first) in for Cuadrado when a sale happensAs said for my money, I think it'll happen
LondonsFinest 692
It is going to be one of the two. There is also the prospect of the club turning their head on Cuadrado intentionally, in order for the deal to go through. I am expecting something by the end of the week. Salah leaving on loan with news on who exactly we are going to get.

If he says that it's now looking unlikely, then in this instance I'm inclined to believe him.Cue today or tomorrow: 'Chelsea FC is delighted to announce the purchase of Juan Guillermo Cuadrado etc.....' Hamilton 2,120
That Costa guy only played 6 games? Why are we in for him then?
We Hate Scouse 10,326
That Costa guy only played 6 games? Why are we in for him then?I think that's based on the 6 Champions League group games that he has played this season rather than the 10 (+4 sub) appearances he has made in the 14 league games Shaktar have played. WNDS 502
That Costa guy only played 6 games? Why are we in for him then? Some teams played more than 6 games in the CL group stages? Squawka don't provide stats for the Ukrainian league, so only his CL stats are available for the comparison.

WNDS 502
So in a matter of days we've gone from Messi to Reus to Cuadrado to Costa and finally to Valencia? What next, we decide against buying anyone and recall the mighty Marko Marin? We were never in for Messi, and Reus can pretty much name his club and price. From what has been rumoured recently, it seems that Cuadrado would be Schurrle's replacement in the squad (direct/long-range shooter/counter-attack threat who runs into space etc), and if Schurrle is going to end up staying then the club is unwilling to meet Cuadrado's buy-out clause. Salah looks much more likely to depart during this transfer window, and so we are looking for a direct replacement for him; Douglas Costa may fit the bill. We might look to upgrade the starting RW in the summer when there will be more viable options available to us.
