Petr Cech

Repetitive injuries to his right calf and repeated surgery on his left elbow for what is otherwise known as tennis elbow. He is an "old" 33 year old, I doubt he'll be playing into his 40s like Schwarzer. Late 30s at a push, I predict.

exactly....

People use VDS and Buffon as the norms for goalkeepers too much

I just don't agree, sorry. Fans want Cech to

A) Take a pay cut and go to a mid table team.

B)Leave the country

C)Rot on the bench for a year when he only has a few left.

That's incredibly selfish imo. Any of those things would make the realtionship the club has with Cech sour.

Yes, of course it will sounds selfish from our point of view. I believe other teams has a much worse history than 'just go anywhere but one club' thing with their respective players. Well, what I am talking about since the beginning actually from Roman point of view. What I will do if I am Roman, for the club, for majority of Chelsea fans.

Funnily, I always thought if Roman really did that, I don't think Cech will forced to move or angry about it. I believe he is clever enough to 'understand' about that owner decision, for club sake, for Jose, for Chelsea fans. I believe he will accept it.

Yes, this will always be my dream, as it seems he will joining Arsenal no matter what anyway. Just not wishing him my best luck then.

If Cech goes to arsenal, than what are they going to do with their other 2 goalkeepers?

They sold fabianksi, who played terrific for swansea and have a very good ospina and from what i remembered their future in the polish goalkeeper...

This will be my first kind of feeling with Arsenal players, but I feel sorry for their GK this summer. A bit.

Ospina did well to help Arsenal finish 3rd, with bunch of ordinary defender in front of him last season.

Even Schwarzer was a shadow of his Boro self for us as was Freidel at Spurs (his staticness drove them insane). Even Schmeichel and Seaman declined rapidly at the end.

Keeper's like Van Der Sar maintaining world class level upto 40 is very rare.

Are you also saying this is because he was a triplet ?....because thats what that part of the debate is about

talking about genetics and similar things, I was working with a guy from Malawi last summer and the subject of players with African origins, genes etc.. who have had heart problems came up. I said I thought it was from genes of players who have some connection to malnutrition in their familes, either directly themselves in childhood or to their parents in particular their mothers during time in the womb, breastfeeding age etc..

his belief was it was not connected to that but due to the lifestyle of a lot of Africans being smokers..

I don`t know..he told me he was a Chelsea AND Arsenal fan so I must confess I didn`t take his opinion too seriously after that..

there is something to Cech having not as thick or hard a skull as most people..i myself have fractured my skull twice but although I have fractured other bones..compared to the impact they took I have no doubt that my other bones are harder than my skull.so maybe that is the case for Cech too.

I'm not a doctor, I don't know if him being a triplet affects his body condition. But the fact of the matter is he struggles with repetitive, niggling injuries, that are extremely debilitating for a goalkeeper. Go and research cricket wicketkeeper injuries for more details.

Now after my head cooling down. Who will be Cech replacement? It seems they won't want to let go Walcott or Ox. How about swap plus cash for Szczesny or Ospina?

My bet Szczesny is a possibility as Ospina will definitely want to leave also but to a club where he will be no 1 choice. Not the best looking guy out there, but actually Szczesny will be a decent backup and he is also still 25 years old. Wrap him up for 5 years. We can also mock Arsenal when we win some cups next season.

Chelsea should play hardball here. Get a really good deal.

Who are Arsenal going to get who is better than Cech? They may take a while but eventually they'll resist and give us what we want. Which should be a HG player + cash. And if Cech really wants to go there, do it.

I doubt Szczesny will move from one club as back up to another club to be back up. Furthermore it is in our hands to play hardball with them.

Well actually there is some chance he will be staying, even with Cech coming, if we're not interested in him. My point is we should showing our interest too if we want him. Maybe he will be more interested to sign for us as a backup rather than staying at Arsenal. It will set our 1st and 2nd GK for many, many years.

Highly doubt it. If Arsenal make their interest in Cech firm with a formal bid, Szczesny will rather move to a mid-table club than us. Especially with the Euros coming next year and Poland look on course, he will definitely just want to play. So even if we did ask for him, I doubt Szczesny will be willing to make the move on that behalf. Would not even be surprised to see him at Southampton for cover for Forster whilst he is out injured.
