Blue Armour 4,448
lol...Cech, Chelsea's Caped Crusader...When Petr Cech was asked about the broken nose he sustained at Blackburn Rovers and how it would affect his chances of playing for the Czech Republic in their Euro 2012 play-offs against Montenegro on Friday and next Tuesday, he said: "Let's see what the doctors say. If I were to start, then it would only be while wearing a mask. I already wear headgear and I think that I would look like Batman." .sum41 and TomCFC
LDN Blue 7,903
Find me a keeper who's suffered more impact injuries on the pitch than Cech?Unbelievable. How he's not mentally scarred yet, I don't know.

Milan 17,959
Hi all, regards from Milan. If everything is okay, I will look as you can see above during the Friday's match. This is the first photo of my new mask, so I'm sending it to you all. Petr

manpe 10,861
Wonder if he'll have to wear that mask till the end of his career like his helmet... I remember his helmet wasn't supposed to be permanent, but it has become.
BlueLion. 21,491
That'll just be for the next few weeks while his nose heals I presume. He might then wear it for a while after as protection. The helmet is entirely precautionary. I remember he was only to due to wear it a couple of years, but after he had a bang on the head playing for the Czech Republic in late 2008 (I think it was against Belarus) he decided it would be best to wear it.There is also the idea of it being a psychological form of protection. Since I injured my knee in 2004, I can't play in goal without a brace on my left knee, otherwise my brain just refuses to acknowledge any movement of the knee which would potentially damage it, ie. diving. Petr's helmet can therefore be a source of confidence for him, as part of some psychological attachment I can absolutely sympathise with. Kez 2,727
Is the PC1 really necessary? It's a good job he's not still wearing the chin guard otherwise he might as well just be wearing a full crash helmet.
