Filipe Luís

Filipe has been ranked behind two very solid performers in Iva and Dave since he arrived at the club, and personally I have no issue with that.

I am really pleased, though, with how he is now starting to put in consistently good performances of his own when his chances do come.

I wouldn't mean seeing him given a go in a wing position TBH. Imagine him and Dave on the left  I know he would probably be taking Eden's place so it wouldn't happen, but imagine the crosses we could whip in!

Hope his injury isn't too serious.

On Sunday, Madrid-based paper AS claim that Filipe Luis is not happy at Chelsea and wants to return to Atletico Madrid.

According to AS, Filipe Luis has realised how content he was at Atletico Madrid and has confessed to fellow Brazilian Miranda that he would like to return to the Vicente Calderon.

AS suggest that Atletico Madrid made serious financial efforts to keep Filipe Luis before he left the La Liga champions for Chelsea in the summer.

At 29, Filipe Luis will likely wait out the rest of the season, to see how his first team opportunities go, before potentially pushing for a move back to Atletico Madrid.

Too late. You should have realised what you had before you left.

Now he's stuck playing second fiddle to a right-back in an arguably worse team than the one he left.

and you believe it? lol

When you start believing AS is when you must admit you know nothing about Spanish media.

Totally agree with you. The Spanish sports newspaper spend the day lying on the signings (I live in Spain and impossible to understand the signings among so many lies).

The guy who now publishes that information that Filipe Luis wants to leave Chelsea is Javiier G, Matallas, is an egocentric and stupid journalist this guy, he have many friends in the Atletico de Madrid but he and another journalist AS (Manolete) are passed telling false stories to talk about Atletico de Madrid like the best football team in the world, stories like; Cuadrado rejects Chelsea and to choose the Atletico de Madrid, Reus prefers to play in the Atletico de Madrid than Real Madrid, Koke rejects the best contract in the world to follow in the best team in the world ...

This information is false. In fact, in the same news Javier G. Matallanas says that Diego Costa has also recognized to Miranda that he lived better in Madrid than London. Someone can believe that Diego Costa wants to leave Chelsea to return to Atletico de Madrid ?. No, it would be illogical to think that.

Surely Miranda has told this journalist, Javier G. Matallanas, that Filipe Luis has told him that he prefers the life he led in Madrid (especially climate and culture) than his life in London. This is obvious. Filipe Luis is from Brazil and has lived many years in Spain (I think that Brazilian culture and Spanish culture have manyaspects in common, besides a climate more or less similar) and for Filipe Luis and Diego Costa shift to London is perhaps a big change and they will go gradually adapting. But that does not mean that Filipe Luis wants to leave Chelsea.

It is normal when a person goes to a new culture that person has different phases of adaptation to the new culture, a bad phases and other good phases. The change of Brazil or Spain to go to London is a big cultural change and it is normal that Filipe Luis now that at some point he misses comment that Madrid and Brazil feeling that great change. And it is normal right now Filipe Luis is living a particular moment at London and he comment to Miranda that he misses Madrid and Brazil because he has lived a big cultural change.

But this is normal and does not mean that Filipe Luis wants to leave Chelsea. That's crazy. It's as simple as this, a person who lives more than 28 years in countries with an average of 20 degrees Celsius or so throughout the year, it is normal that person feel the change to go to another country with an average of 10 degrees Celsius more or less throughout the year. IS NORMAL, but does not mean that Filipe Luis will leave Chelsea.

AS makes a mountain out of a molehill. is ALL FALSE. These people are some enlightened.

Filipe Luis is adapting gradually to Chelsea, and most likely is that he is our main left-back next season with Azpilicueta at right-back. Many players take a year to adapt to the philosophy of Mourinho, and then they are important players with Mourinho.

Filipe Luis has been a strategically perfect signing. He is going to stay with us for many many years.

Regards.

Underusing him has been one of Mourinho's biggest faults this season.

I think right now it could be, but earlier the season he wasn't coping well defensively. We should see him more often now - especially on games at home.

I think in the calendar year - the matches we could watch - Luís showed to have adapted to the physicality and he has been doing well defensively. Up to that point I think Mourinho was fair with the opportunities he gave to him. I really expect to see him and Zouma in all home games and even a few away adventures.

Azpili is better than Iva defensively, but Iva has been saving our arses way too many times to risk benching him, so unfortunately I feel like Azpili should be sitting a few more times, not sure Mourinho will do it though. If he doesn't, then I'll agree with you.

Great performance from Luis. He looks to have become more assured in 1v1 defensive situations and his ability on the ball is by far the best of the 3 FBs. His intensity off-the-ball is also very noticeable. And what happened to the white headband?!
