Haven't been following Chelsea much lately so thanks for that information!

Jose's right in what he's saying IMO. As far as I'm concerned, giving the armband to a player who hasn't even played 3+ years at the club despite having good enough leaders in your squad already wouldn't be the right thing to do morally. In times where loyality in football/sports is getting more and more rare it speaks volumes to reward players who have earned their place in the locker room over a long period.

I disagree.

Desailly got the armband not long after arrival, they should give it to the best man for the job, not whos been here the longest.

Cesc was crticised by someone for not defending Costa in a fight ... was said he wasn't a TRUE BLUE ,,well

he certainly waded in at the weekend.

On a serious not Cesc is by far the most suited to leadership of any of our current squad bar JT of course .

He has experience , intelligence and fire in his belly ,, Excellent English and Spanish . A guaranteed starter ,

For me he ticks all the boxes

Sentimentalism =/= morals. In case somebody doesn't know the difference.

well, in the same interview Jose admitted Fabregas is a much better person than he thought. So there you go... he said he's a fantastic player and professional. I don't think there's anything wrong with his morals. He may have done some bad things in the past. He was young and he's a bit too hot blooded. I don't see what you possibly be referring to. Everyone makes mistakes, and let's not fool ourselves, our own captain - who I love and worship - has made more than a handful of things I wouldn't call the best morale out there.

Read my first post. As long as Jose's at the helm it won't happen.

That's not what I meant by "morals". I was talking about traits like loyality etc which Jose seems to value as important morals. Hence it's more likely he goes with Ivanovic or even Cesar before Fabregas as our next captain (hypothetically considering Jose's still our coach by the time Terry is no longer our captain) simply because they have deserved it over a longer period.

oh my bad then. The way you worded your first and then your second post I was under the impression he wouldn't ever be a captain here under Mourinho because of his questionable moral decisions in the past - especially against Chelsea.

I don't think he's going to be a captain straight away when JT leaves the first team. And tbh captaincy only still feels relevant for England these days. Everywhere else it doesn't seem to matter as much as it did in the past. I love JT as our captain, but I also feel after him, I won't care much about it.

Never ever ever thought I'd even consider this man as our captain even 1 year ago. How times change eh? He's the best candidate for the job on leadership qualities and he's definitely shown his passionate willingness to fight for the club already.

I think he would be a great shout for our next captain, forget short term, Cesc to take over when JT leaves, as long as JT himself and Jose think he's up to the job. If they think he is then he is.

He's already the manager's favourite in just 4 months time. Goes to show how much of a character he is.

I think it will be a bold decision from Jose if he overlooks Cahill and give Cesc the armband when Terry decides to call it a day. I completely trust Jose to make the right decision, then.

I don't believe he's a gooner at heart, tbh--for the same reasons many Arsenal fans don't believe that. He was Arsenal's Captain and they made him the player he is, so understandably, he's fond of them and will always say nice things about Arsenal, but I don't believe he's really a gooner at heart. A gooner at heart wouldn't leave Goonerland, no matter what. A gooner at heart would never join another London top club if he has other options, and Cesc admitted himself he had 3 other options only in England. A gooner at heart would not celebrate the goal he created against Arsenal.
If anything, he's a Barcelona fan at heart.
Cesc looks very committed to us and it's been only 4 months, so I don't really think it would be an issue by the time we'll have to choose the next captain.
