He helped change our style and offered a completely different alternative to soften the blow of losing the midfield goals of Lampard.

He was hugely influential in Jose's title winning season, and despite a significant reduction in minutes also had a very good season in Conte's title winning season which flew under the radar somewhat.

I was also extremely impressed with his attitude since at Chelsea. At Arsenal and Barcelona he came across as petulant, but he's a competitive winner. He could have had far easier moves than coming to Chelsea given his Arsenal history. He also had the option to take the easy route out when Conte didn't fancy him but he battled his way into his plans, and the length and success of his Chelsea time seems to have come from making tough decisions and putting in a lot of hard work which wouldn't necessarily be associated with a player of his natural talents.

A club prepared to build around his ability on the ball and offer legs around him will still get some very good mileage out of him even entering the twilight of his career.

I have a huge amount of respect for him and if he leaves this month or this summer, I wish him the best of luck with the rest of his career.

True professional;. Hes got the type of class we should be going for.

100% agree. I find him in a similar place to Pirlo when he left Milan, not to disrespect Pirlo but he left Milan a "spent force" or so if he played for us he'd be considered that. The right team around Cesc and hed still be a really good midfield player. He has the technique and intelligenc, just in our team which is quite open and vunerable defensively he and Jorginho are extremely exposed. I think his passing range is still better than Jorginhos too. Not sure if he will ever be a 6 but as an 8 in a team with plenty of legs to mask his physical issues, a bit of freedom and runners hed be good still.

Probably in slower league. His speed is just ridiculously slow now, I was shocked with his pace when he came on against Leicester.

For me he will be missed, if he is 5 years younger, he will play in Kovacic place and we won't have this conversation of having problem creating chances

I wonder what the wonderful board are thinking of a back up plan for Jorginho, if looking likely the magic man goes , seeing Sarri said we only have them  2 for that position ! Leaving now seems silly unless we have something lol planned , mmm dubious we will get an upgrade in January

Just hope this story is true...

Will never be much loved here because of his Arsenal and Barcelona past, but he has shown he is a great professional and did a very good job for us without too much fuss, just went about with his business and did what was asked of him. When we signed him he added an element of creativity in our midfield that was lacking since Lamps left, not the goals but the vision and quality of passing, played a huge role in our last 2 Premier League titles, also added an FA cup and Carling Cup to his cv, contributed with his share of goals, some of them crucial and made tons of assists, i thank him for all his service for us and wish him the best of luck on his new destination. Cheers Cesc and KTBFFH :)

This first touch spot on pass just showed what a good eye hes got. He saw Andre come from a mile away amd knew where he would be. Always loved Schurrle too.

This is one of the goals that sent me crazy that year. Buying Cescy and Diego together was like a perfect recipe. The MH was just electric that season. Excellent atmosphere.

This made me crack up. OK it was childish and under different circumstances it mighta turned out bad for us. But I loved his spirit and enthusiasm. Going to watch him on the North Bank with my best mate from about 2005/06 was a great time and some brilliant memories. My Gooner mate still used to come to the Bridge to watch him till he began to take a back seat and we not know if or when he would play,

111 Assists in 350 games - not all starters. Lamps made 102 in almost twice as many games (Tho Lamps did score 3 times as many goals lol)

Eden calls him The Master, Bats calls him Santa. To us hes just Magic.

Would have loved to seen him chuck pizza at old grumpy.

Best of luck to you Cescy!

Ive always loved him bud. Standing in the North Bank watching him. Was a great player.

Always sad seeing a player getting slower but hes still got a gentle touch,a great footballing head and a real leader.

I threw a party when we signed him and Diego. A great partnership.

that summer we got the deals done soon, fast and effectively, mind you it was a World Cup summer: Costa, Cesc, Luis, Remy, Courtois, am i missing anyone else? one of our best transfer markets in recent years. Cheers

Thats when we have had our best windows. When we get in quick Last one was the Wee Baldy Man.

Maybe Pulisic is a good omen mate?

@Unionjack was just watching those cesc gifs, that sublime pass to split open Burnley's backline for Schurrles goal is his best one for us, also that long ball to Costa against Arse was precise and pinpoint, that is the quality that Cesc possesses, not many players in world football can pass the ball like that with so much accuracy, this is one area we definitely need to access in the transfer market.

Total class mate!

Now just need someone of his class as a Striker and ACM. Will go so much to help us take on the world next season!

mate, Kante's signing has to go down as one of the major coups in world football, nevermind the 30 million, thats a steal for a player of his caliber, this in a market that has highly inflated prices for players, Leicester must be kicking themselves everyday, altough they are the ones who found him 1st and bought him much more cheaply, but he still didn't have the bagage he has when signed for us. Pulisic i hope he works out for us, i really do, i will hold my judgement until when he starts playing for us, the kid has a lot of talent no doubt.

We do get good signings for around that £30mill mark. All 3 we mentioned have been similar price.

Did our homework. Knew what we needed. Got our targets set early. And they were ours.

Makes it sound easy lol

To be fair for every 5 signings we usually make at least 2 are hits. It's just that our high profile misses are highlighted more. Even the so called terrible players at the moment like Alonso and Willian have contributed to some of our success. Other than that Djilobodji summer we have usually been able to get at least 1or 2 transfers spot on since we signed hazard and the other guys in 2012
