The Spanish Football Federation released the following statement:

'The Chelsea midfielder has been ruled out for the games against Belarus and Germany following tests and an evaluation of his condition that was carried out this morning by the medical staff of the Spanish national team.

'The MRI done this morning in the Sanitas Clinic in La Moraleja (Madrid) showed a clear improvement with respect to the one done by his club on Sunday.

'Although the MRI discards a hamstring tear, the player continues to have discomfort and the medical team considers that his involvement in the next games would not be advisable for his complete recovery.'

Good that it doesn't seem too serious. Nice that he and Diego will get a nice recovery period.

I'd consider giving him even more by resting him against West Brom. Ramires and Matić should be enough to see them off at home.

i disagree, Cesc is vital in these games, more so than against the big teams

Well Spain didn't want to believe us and now they have to in both cases.

I think this is good as next time they will be more incline to listen to us when we warn them.

Mourinho said it's better for Spain to have a fully fit Costa. I will add the same for Fabregas.

So is best they get a rest while having some injuries.

Great news he will get some rest, bad news is that he might be a doubt for WBA game. But judging from the Spain released statement, it seems Fabregas himself who told them he has some discomfort, otherwise Spain might still included him stubbornly, like Costa case. Well, at least they listen to what player said.

the much more insightful original article by Premier League

http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/news/news/2014-15/nov/151114-cesc-fabregas-in-numbers-on-course-to-break-assists-record.html

Imo it only proves further the difference a striker can make.

Cesc hasn't been creating even close to what he used to during most of his Arsenal games, creating an average of 2,91 chances per game, still he has by far his best goal/chances created ratio now with us. Also turning 28% of the chances he creates into goals is a major accomplishment by him and the teammates netting the ball. And why does it feel that Diego scored most of his 10 goals from Cesc assists when it reality it has been only 4?

I do hope he breaks all possible records this season for us (and the others to follow too because I'm greedy :P).

Let's hope he can keep himself injury free for most of the term.

edit: this article is such a gem.

Cesc is placed second place among the players that ran the most distance so far this season and being considered slow, his average and highest speed are also not to be ashamed of. He's been amazing covering and running the whole match. It doesn't mean he doesn't make positional mistakes, but his commitment and giving-his-all attitude should be praised.

Thanks for posting.

Very surprised by the distance he's covered. But he does play at a slow pace, which is where the (lack of) sprints come into play. That said, his distance covered is still impressive.

Messi's gf will be the happier than any Chelsea fans on earth, if Messi joining Chelsea, no?

If Messi ever leaves Barca which i think he will, no doubt his GF will want him to move to London...
