Popular Post! CHOULO19 24,332 Posted July 18, 2014 Popular Post! Share Posted July 18, 2014 Just read the news. I imagine it will be sorted out, but still not something that should have happened. The guys is representing Egypt on one of the biggest stages in the world, this is not how he should be treated. iseah100, The Skipper, Blue Armour and 3 others
Spike 12,049
I'd say he is probably better as a role model than a dead soldier. iseah100 and Mohammed Seif

Just a waste of talent. iseah100

Mohammed Seif 1,451
Is this just another case of a governing body flexing their power? Not really, it is actual a sign that the revolution worked. Fairly speaking Salah's grades do not allow him to enter this institute. An exception was made for him which other students see is unfair. The new minister of education fears that there might be strong criticism to "injustice to other students", so he cancelled his admission. It is just an act from the minister to "wash his hands", if you know what I mean. Never the less we know how this is going to turn out in Egypt and the kid will get exempted some way or another within the few coming days. Salah has been a source of pride for the Egyptians by just making it in a big club in England. People will stand behind him causing this decision to be reverted one way or another. zolayes

I can see why that would make other students mad. But Salah could be a great role model. I didn't know that. But you say he'll be fine? That's good. But things are changing and he will be fine. He is a role model for A LOT of people, especially youngsters in Egypt. He will be fine. zolayes, Sovieticus, iseah100 and 6 others

Vybz Kartel 1,613
He just does not inspire confidence in me, he is the opposite of Boga who everytime his on the ball I expect big things from him, would rather his spot in the team be taken by a better youth prospect to be honest TheIceMan, Severinb and bethos1

Jype 6,398
He's changing numbers by the looks of things, any idea which he'll take? He had 22 at Basel but that one's already taken so unless Willian is changing too, I can't see any decent numbers available to him except Hazard's old 17. Surely he's not getting number 8. He would LOVE to take 22. It is the number of his role model Abu Traika. That is why he took it in Basel and after Traika retired, he took it in the national team. But like you said, it depends on Willian. MoudMagdy and Sidzeret

Willian doesn't really look like an 8 to me so I don't know.Could also be a sign of Drogba coming back, he did wear number 15 in his first couple of years at the club so he could be taking that back with Salah just getting 17 or some other free number.Or maybe the rumours of Salah having to join the army were true after all and he's getting no number at all. I know, I don't believe for a second they would actually force him to go.We also have mandatory military service here in Finland and athletes pretty much get a free pass if they want but for some reason some of them still decide to go, for example former Chelsea man Mikael Forssell did go at the age of 27. Possibly, there are some extra benefits you get in Finland if you join the military? I don't know, but I know that is the case in the U.S. They get nothing what so ever in Egypt though. You get an exemption if you are drafted as a soldier ( not an officer) and when you pass the age of 30.
