It seemed very fair at the time and got a player that never settled in England off the books. His initial fee has essentially been completely recouped and he's now Juve's problem as it seem they're now trying to offload him.

Three year loan where they were forced to outright purchase him if they won Serie A which they did. Again, the club recouped their investment and have moved on. What's the issue? I think we were also paid 2-3M a season for the loan.  Then the agreed purchase fee.  I believe that we finished somewhere around break even, all said and done.  Maybe a little lower or a little higher.  But practically even.  I think I recall this, might be wrong. Okay, that's a valid opinion. But riddle me this: Would you think the same if he was a random Congolese player from Ligue 1, who had the same hype as Luke did a few years ago, then moved to a genuinely big team and hasn't produced a decent season since? Who hasn't broken through in that big team, who hasn't played over 20 games a season for 3 years due to serious injury problems and who has been criticized by different managers for attitude problems? I say stay away, we need an upgrade on Alonso, not a backup to a player who would ideally be backup to someone much better. Luke Shaw is not better and he will not play over Alonso if he came here, pointless. Also, going from Alex Sandro to Luke Shaw is like going from Messi to Andros Townsend, just so underwhelming. We need to aim higher, much higher, someone who can actually improve us. Â Â Â

And it is manu !
communicate 2,703
I still don't understand why are we selling Matic Does he want to leave like Costa or Conte does not want him anymore ? Tautvix and NiclasCFC

Well, he was clearly a weak point in the team. There was only Fábregas and Chalobas so he played a lot but we needed a midfielder who is better with the ball, stronger and better with his head. With Bakayoko arriving Matic is out of the starting eleven, everyone knows that. Probably Conte and the club wants to keep him but at Manchester United he would be one of the first names in the starting eleven and Italian teams are after him too. So I think we don't want to sell him but he wants to go.

This "Bum" won us two EPL Titles by putting up a fierce Dictatorship on every opposing Midfield in the League. Johnny is right, show some respect. To all of you Couch Professionals ... Let me explain once again ... Bakayoko cannot and will not fully replace Matic ... Because Bakayoko is a good, but EPL inexperienced Footballer ... While Matic is an experienced Football Genius, who (just like anyone else) has his ups and downs. Think about it fore a Second ... The Chelsea Board would turn out to be the biggest Monkey Gang in HIstory, if they were to sell him to United in order to let them form a Midfield likely to turn out one of the greatest in League History. Won't happen ... Unless Matic himself finds a way to push the deal through forcefully. Yeboii, Duppy Conqueror and Johnnyeye
