Infact many reliable media outlets like BBC sport aren't mentioning anything about the possibility of two loanees being sent out with a fee. Standard are reporting that Romeu was on the players wanted: Nemanja Matic set for medical as Chelsea snub Benfica's request for Kakuta and Romeu http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/nemanja-matic-set-for-medical-as-chelsea-snub-benficas-request-for-kakuta-and-romeu-9060850.html We couldn't have given them Romeu because he's on loan till the end of the season at Valencia, we would have to pay the penalty clause for breaking that contract. As for Gael, I really doubt that we would snub their request to have him. He clearly has no future at the club and the sooner he's off our wages bill, the better. We gave them Matic back in 2011 despite him being on loan at Vitesse, only joined them at the end of the season though. But yeah, no chance of the club letting Romeu go there and I have a feeling the player himself wouldn't want a move to Benifca either because he's already playing at a higher level at Valencia. Clubs are allowed to continue discussions and iron out the details whilst a player is undergoing a medical/discussing personal terms, but obviously thats at the discretion of the selling club.But it would imply that an agreement is either done or very close.Mhm, yes, thanks for clearing that up. It is nearly impossible and I think even against the rules. This is done all the time. The selling club might even see it as a benefit for them and think they can squeeze out some more cash when the medical and everything has been done. Monies need to change hands, medicals to pass, paper work to be filled in, checked and read. Plus we never know exactly when talks begin so to say 'why do our deals take so long' is not the point, the point is it's key the deal is done to the good of us and the selling club.
