Atlas Lion 1,223
Why on EARTH would you want to keep him IF we sign a better player? Why does he deserves the time to prove himself? He had 6 months and he messed up his only chance, now in preseason he shows no promise what so ever. Yeah patience like Torres, that was some patience...Then we keep him and Lukaku, sell Ba and signs Eto'o/Rooney/Suarez/Martinez or whoever.Because buying buying buying while we have suitable options in our disposal bears no reason. Messed up his chance? He was quality on his debut and got us past United and tormented City. He's terrific at finding space and hasn't had a full season for us to even declare full judgement. Patience that is missing with a fans clarity spews glory hunting plastic mentality. Oh, and Judging a player in preaseason.... Unbelievable. Take a good hard look at yourself
Roquila 1,335
From Didier Drogba, Nicolas Anelka and Daniel Sturridge to Fernando Torres, Demba Ba and Samuel Eto'o. I Dont like this.
nadavTKL 1,787
Eto'o himself speaking today: 'There is only one Jose Mourinho. I have played under a lot of great coaches - but there is no other character in the game like Jose. 'He is one of the best coaches in the world - and we had a lot of success together at Inter Milan. I would like to have the chance to play under him again - because it is never boring when Jose is around. 'Of course Chelsea are a great team - and when we have all the offers on the table then I will discuss with my agent and see what my next step is.'Sounds real to me... CHOULO19 24,332
So according to him we made an offer. How did you infer that from those quotes?

hjperdeath 2,226
How did you infer that from those quotes? I think the last part of having all the offers on the table kinda points to the fact that Chelsea have atleaast enquired.

sainttourist 68
He is still good, a little bit different Eto'o to one that was before. Now he is not that fast but very skillfull and play a lot for the team and also became a leader on the pitch. With huge pay cut will be glad to see him here. You have no idea what the question that he was replying to was. He was probably asked directly about Chelsea and said that they are a great, then he was asked about his future and said that he wants to wait and see what the offers are which basically is saying politely that he does not want to talk about speculations now. These are exactly the type of answers that players are trained to give, jus like journos are trained to take them out of context to sell stories. Mouri_Matic 560
The only way many people could ever accept having him here is IF we sign him on a FREE because he got one year contract left and agreed to reduce his wages to £150k max and signs a 1-2 years contract. I agree, the context of the questions asked are always omitted. But I guarantee this is exactly how it went, journo simply changes the context when he reports it in the paper.I mean we need a striker, Eto becomes available, print story linking us to him, sell papers. Sports journalism is genuinely awful!!!
xPetrCechx 13,571
Bad about Eto'o is that we'd lose him to the Africa Cup of Nations.Every Year?!
haranr 485
We are not making an offer until the Rooney saga is finished. If we buy Rooney then no offer will be made and if we fail to get Rooney then we will go for Eto'o but he will have to decrease his wages demand cuz he is not that good. Steagles 70
As far as Eto'o as a player, I say no. In terms of wages, I have no idea what to think in terms of Pounds. I've only ever considered salaries in terms of US Dollars. What would a general wage be for a player of his age and productivity in Pounds? Where does that compare to what we think he is commanding? That said Jose knows him very well, to the point where he got him to play RB for BarcaA loan for a season would be good -definitely got goals in him.... Special Juan 28,141
Unbelievable player in his pomp at bar a and also at inter Milan. That goal at the bridge for inter I can still hear now as that ball clinks the net from a sneijder through ball.
Toli 977
nowhere near the old etoo+ earning silly wages. keep the fingers away for him. would've either paid 60 m for cavani than high wages to etoo.
Tomo 21,751
It's all boils down to the wages really, as a player i would say why not, lets be honest Falcao and Cavani have gone, Rooney is 50/50 i would have him, he may be 32 but it doesn't mean he's crap.As for the wages like someone else said above give him a 2/3 year deal and split his yearly Anzhi wages in that with a little signing on fee (something that would be possible if we get him for free) then why not, no one will pay him as much as they do in Russia, so if he wants to leave, then he will have to accept that.Jose got him to accept playing second fiddle to Milito at Inter (in terms off playing at right mid to accomodate the Argentinian) so if we for some reason had a injury crisis in the 3 behind the forward he could cover there. He may not be the player he was at Barca, but the limited time i did watch him last term (mainly in the Europa League) he looked like he could still offer something and imo still has a couple of years in him yet.
