3 year contract? To a player that will turn 31 in August and whose sole quality as footballer is his quick acceleration (which we know is a ability that starts to decline as people hit their 30s.) He isn't like Messi who can become a central midfielder once his legs are gone, he has no business on a football pitch once he can no longer make that quick acceleration.

3 year contract would be a nightmare.

He won't get many plaudits, but he played more like a traditional winger today. He stayed very wide and put in a lot of crosses into the box (I think about 10 crosses today) for Higuain and Hazard to score. That is what I want from him, stay wide like callejon and stretch the play, leave the cutting inside to Hazard. We can't have all the wingers occupying the middle and crowding out space for our striker and midfielders to run into.

I just do not like his on field play.

Juve

Bayern (granted having an off year, but look over the last 4,5 years)

Real (perfect example as Marcelo has started a major decline and look at their struggles, although it is not all on Marcelo, CR7 leaving really was a bigger deal than many thought, and they have other issues as well)

Liverpool

Shitty (another good example of last year v this year with Mendy being injured yet again and Delph playing far worse than last year, thus they are off the pace  partially because of that)

all have in common for the past 4, 5 years (Liverpool not so long, but look at the skyrocket upsurge since Robertson and TAA have blown up)?

Superb true fullback play

Hakimi has been a MONSTER for Dortmund, and look where they are at (granted Sancho and a finally healthy Reus are a huge reason as well)

Napoli was FAR more settled at fullback under Sarri for the most part.

If Emerson is not up to level as a full time starter (I doubt he is), then it is criminal to not upgrade and then sell off Alonso whilst we can still get huge quid for him.

I'd upgrade 6 places given half a chance.

And I would do it all in 1 go so they can all get used to each other together.

Problem we have - apart from needing the upgrades. is we HAVE NO LEADERS.

I've said it before a couple of rtimes and @Sideshow Luiz said it to me yesterday. At one time our whole team was almost contrived of Captains for their various national teams.

Captains you NORMALLY find have the sort of character and attitude that we are totally missing.

We dont have i real leader I'd say apart from Luiz who has the ability to rile the lads up and get them motivated in the dressing room.

Theres no chance in hell how some were wanting Eden to be captain. He doesn't have the ability to moivate himself

Daves a great lad but Ive only seen him talking to Ampadu the other week..

We need to be looking into players with that type of ability.
