Fernando Torres

My only question is, if Mourinho is so ruthless then why he keeps playing Torres? Why doesn't he drop him like he did with Casillas? Send him to the reserves like with malouda.
Probably because Torres hasn't hurt Mourinho personally like Casillas did.

Yep. There's something fishy about it. Jose isn't stupid.

I feel sorry for Mourinho.

The only way of shifting Torres - is giving him a brief window to shine.in the hope that it lures in a buyer...

Jose is 2 for 2 on this... :(

World Cup - Zero

Friendlies - Zero (not expected to change)

Such a shame - Jose is doing his best for him, giving him a chance - everybody knows the best thing for Torres is to move on. It's a win/win for everybody (pride loss on Nandos part/embarrassment of CFC Board) - but these are minor, trivial things tat should be skipped for the greater good ;)

Torres can take some credit in that he never quit trying (I will respect him for that, as that IS an admirable quality) - but even deep down he knows he has to move, the way the media and our perception - are such that even if he has a 30 goal season - he is still a flop.

I'm not comfortable hating on a guy, that has tried, but just wasnt CFC material. (I have hated so much in the past, but this has just gone on too long now - I seriously now feel really sorry for him) I know the response is £175k week - but I'm still not convinced he should be hated - the responsible thing is to move the lad on - I want CFC to be responsible! :)

I don't know where that came from - it just jumped out when I read the thread...

There are two things to take into consideration:

1) if we want to get rid of Torres, Mourinho has to continue to praise the only possible aspect of him that can be praised and give him some match time, who will buy a player that doesn't play? It's really a case of being between a rock and a hard place.

2) Who are we going to play if he gives him the Malouda treatment? We don't have four strikers waiting to play. we have three, two already passed it.

I can't believe whatever happened because of stupid French television ruined Eto'o and Mourinho's relationship to the point he wants to stay in London but won't stay with us.

Sorry for people who may get offended by it, but based on current form Eto'o >>>>>>>>>> Drogba regardless of what Etoo's real age is.

Also, the order things are released to the general public isn't necessarily the order they happened. Mourinho probably knew about Lukaku's departure before we went after Didier. We probably went after him because it was clear Lukaku wasn't going to stay - the deal just hasn't been done yet at the time.

It's a HUGE miscalculation on Mourinho and the board's side thinking that Drogba is enough just because we have a good striker on Costa. Costa could struggle to adapt, injury himself and a lot of other things that will make us look to the bench and only see two players that aren't on their best anymore.

We should have brought someone other than The King (as much as I love him and I think he can be useful) because the awful truth is that both him and Torres are #3 striker material. None is up to being # striker. They should be getting the same amount of minutes as Ba had (even less actually, as last year we had a rotation for #1 striker throughout the whole season). It should be having Torres OR Drogba in the squad, both is nonsense and suicidal.

There will be only one person to blame if our season is jeopardized by not having a decent #2 striker and that is Mourinho. Even the board can't be held accountable if Mourinho tells them the same thing he tells us: that the three strikers we have is enough. It isn't.

Three GOOD strikers is plenty ,, But we are praying Costa will deliver otherwise the season is over before it starts

I meant those three, Ron, not the amount itself. The three we have aren't enough. We have one #1 material striker and two #3 material strikers. We don't have a #2 striker that has the qualities to play his part.

If it goes wrong it will cost Jose his job

You could give Drogba a little more time^^.Yes,he isn´t the fastest and he also has not the best stamina, but he can still play decent when he has more training sessions under his belt.

He needs more time.I agree with the Torres thing, but we will have to live with Torres for another 2 years and that is the sad truth.

If both keep playing shit,I would give Solanke a chance because Mourinho keeps praising Solanke,so if he is that good,he should give him his chance liek Van Gaal does.Let´s be honest.Solanke can´t be worse than Torres. That is not possible. The funny thing is that in Germany, somehow a lot of people, also a lot of chelsea fans, love him, even though he plays so shit.

Mou brought Drogba because Drogba has a big personality and he is the big guy talking to other players in the dressing room.If Cech leaves, only Drogba and Cech will be the big guys in the dressing room. When these two legends retire from football,Chelsea will have to face a big problem

Eto'o is/was apparently negotiating with West Ham FFS. He would surely have stayed here had Mourinho asked him to but I reckon Jose has made an emotional decision here in that he prefers Drogba. Like you say Eto'o is much better and has just had a season to acclimatise to the PL (even if he didn't do too well).
