🇪🇸 Fernando Torres

And what about the Man Utd game? Or Newcastle? West Brom? Fulham? Aston Villa? Everton? Bayer Leverkusen? Even when Torres was in that 5 months goal drought Lampard gave a more shit performance in those games then he did.

Face the facts, Lampard is not the player 5 years ago. He needs to do what Scholes and Giggs done and adapt his game to a more defensive role, because the way he is playing (trying to act like he is in Jose's 4-3-3 formation) is jeopardizing the balance of the team, is getting in the way of Oscar, Mata and Hazard from doing their roles and he is too slow to make up loss ground creating gaps in midfield.

He is finished as an attacking force, he either adapts or drops out of the team.

He's 34 he can not invent himself completely new. He is not efficient in a 4-2-3-1 in most games but our best option for the dlp role. Nonetheless he can't defy his natural offensive instincts. Anyway the 4-2-3-1 is simply playing him and Ramires out of position. In a 4-3-3 he still can be an attacking force as its his natural position. Of course he has to be used more sporadically but when he is used he has to be rather offensive.

In that case he should be dropped for being one dimensional. Because if he can't play in any other way then this is going to be a huge long term problem for him (even medium term).

But I think this conversation should be in a more appropriate thread, this is not the place.

I think the day that Torres finally gets booed by the home crowd isn't far. He's been given enough time and chances to prove himself and he's failed to look even average.

Also fuck this lack of service and suitability crap.

I don't want to see any of our players booed by the fans - still pissed off when they booed Sturridge last year, but the constant cheering for Torres will stop eventually.

Sturridge really should start against Stoke. Torres is not far from being benched. I'm one of his biggest defenders and fans but we simply need a striker who will score us goals and lead our attack with some conviction. A clinical striker is what we're missing.

I understand all the bashing and Torres indeed wasn't good enough.

However some of the comments are quite harsh, you can tell he tried hard and our second goal was initiated by his hard work.

He should really learn how to stay upfront instead of roaming to the wings and midfield, he needs to realize he is the only forward on the pitch right now and be a true talisman.

I will still support him wholeheartedly as long as he stays as a Chelsea player.

Shevchenko tried. Every game, and each goal was deserved. Torres deserves nothing but boos. The support for him from our fans is incredible, mind. I don't know what he's done to earn that level of support. Time for him to fuck off and for the club to spend big on Cavani or Falcao - or be a little more prudent and sign someone like Huntelaar or Llorente.

He was shit yesterday again but there's fine lines sometimes. If Mata squares the ball to him instead of going for goal himself, we win the game and Torres gets his goal and the match winner and this thread would still maybe be on only 318 pages... Juve defended well though, every time he had the ball, 2 or 3 were on him quick time. He needs to make better and more frequent runs and he also needs to shoot more. It's not all his fault though.

Sturridge must start against Stoke.

Torres deserves nothing but boos.

please explain how on earth Torres deserves boos? that is an absolutely ridiculous thing to say!

I thought Torres done pretty well tonight under the circumstances playing against 3 top class CB's he worked his socks off and as Pat Nevin said again Torres sacrificed himself for the team yet again, and i applaud Torres for that. and yet again as has happened many times since he joined us he was free on his own at the back post ready for a tap in but his team mate decides to shoot instead of pass.

I have no worries with Torres he is putting a shift in week in week out and he will start against Stoke on Saturday and probably score.

again people are acting as if Torres missed three 1 on 1's and gave away the ball every time he had it yesterday! when are people on here going to speak with some sense about Torres and stop going way OTT because he doesn't score 5 goals a game!!!

I'm all for criticizing a player who is not performing but the way people speak about Torres on here is a joke!

I think 99% of the criticisms of all players on here are over the top to say the least, but with Torres, it's a cumulative thing. 50 league matches, 9 goals. I don't care what kind of service you get, that's just atrocious. Forget about 50M pound striker, that's the kind of numbers you'd be disappointed with from somebody you got on a free. You think Peter Crouch is getting fantastic service at Stoke? He has 12 goals in 36 matches there. You think Bobby Zamora is just getting set up for tap-ins all the time? He has 9 goals in his last 31 games. And those guys don't have Juan Mata behind them (who led the Premier League in chances created last season which kind of makes you wonder how bad the service really was.) No, I don't want to see Torres injured or booed, but what is so frustrating for so many supporters is seeing other players get dumped on for having a bad match while Torres has been basically useless for a year and a half and people still defend him. Take Ivanovic who has been one of our best players for the past few years, one of the best RBs in the Premier League. He's off to a mediocre start and people want to drop him. Torres has been bad for almost 75 games, has never been good with us for anything more than a game or two here and there and we have to applaud Torres for "sacrificing himself for the team?" I have never seen any player in any sport get as long a leash with the supporters as Torres has with ours. I'd love for Torres to start scoring and start impacting games, there's just no reason to believe that will happen with any regularity. Many of us would rather see Sturridge (he of the 19 goals in his last 43 Premier League matches), get a chance to show what he can do as a striker. Torres will still have to play a lot, but he shouldn't be the automatic #1 if he doesn't earn it.

please dont compare Torres to Crouch and Zamora! its one thing scoring for Stoke or Qpr and completely another thing scoring for Chelsea where teams park the bus and have extra motivation to beat us, plus the fact Torres is a big name in world football so defenders who play against him will always try to put in one of their best performances of their life against him, completely different to what Crouch and Zamora have to deal with.

The problem I have is not so much that he's not scoring its the fact that he's just not doing anything now unlike last season were he did at least try and chase players down. He's not making the run to create space he's not chasing down like he did and it just feels like he know's for a fact that he's going to start games and he has no competition. The Shevchenko signing kicked Drogba up and he added an avalanche of goals to his game after being a battling ram for 2 years opening spaces with his hold up play for Lampard and Robben. When Drogba wasn't scoring in those 2 seasons he was causing absolute havoc with his back to goal and he was working like a dog and players around him benefited from it. Torres is not contributing in anyway shape or form, sometimes I forget he's on the pitch. Chelsea forwards have always been team players and we're not used to this as a club we've always had strikers that played for the team since I can remember and that is from the mid 90's. We don't sign players that can only play if they get service that's not a Chelsea player.

Exactly just compare last night Vucinic with Torres, both haven't scored but one worked his ass off and made plenty of chances for others and he isn't playing for CFC.

What game were you watching? Torres put a shift in yesterday, so much so that I wish he didn't make that much effort coming deep for the ball etc. (Why? because with the way we are playing at the moment he must get impatient and frustrated) so yeah he's involved in the build up but then we cross the ball and where is our striker? Running into the box instead of being inside it for the cross, it happened so many times last night. Crosses with no striker in the box because he'd got impatient and come deep for the ball.

Credit to Juve, they had 3-4 players around him everytime he had the ball.

INSTRUCTIONS DIMATTEO SHOULD GIVE TO TORRES TO DEVELOP HIS GAME

I noticed some things that make torres look bad.

1. Torres should hold the ball to his feet and pass instead of trying to dribble and looking for the foul.

2. I hope oscar has taught torres how to shoot without looking at the goal jst like drogba (torres is a freakin striker, pls SHOOOOT :readthemessage: )

3. Peter cech should stop hooping balls to torres, he cant win an aerial battle even if its against ramires. cech stop

4. Torres should pass when surrounded by three players instead of trying to do everything on his own He loses the ball more than anybody in chelsea  he is starting to look like suarez in my eyes. <_<

5. He should play it simple - pass and look for the return ball by making a run. I never see torres do this. Falcao does it 100% of the time  .

6. How can torres recieve through balls when he constantly stays at the wings and doesnt try to make runs in behind the defence. or even do no 5 above.

7. If torres doesnt get this right, i think its about time we tried sturridge to start and find a balance before the season gets too far

*rant over*
