I take it back. These insults hurt. Outdoors is too scary to exercise in. What if I fall and cut my knee!? Or a branch hits me or i step in dog poo!? Those are risks I'm not willing to take. Think I might go a buy a treadmill. Simple, but it could burn some calories while I watch Spongebob.

I don't know you personally so I cant give exact information, but lets say you're ectomorph and hopefully a bit of mesomorph. Also how old are you?

Now eating a lot will make you gain weight, but mostly it's fat. So ask yourself what is your goal. If it is to pack on some muscle and gain weight by doing that then we are talking about years to get a good increase of body mass through clean bulk. What kind of workouts do you do? Are they intense etc? If you over do it, you'll get over-trained (overtraining symptoms are weakness, dizziness, aching joints/musles, feeling hot all the time, INSOMNIA, drop in performance etc...) It means you'll actually do more harm than good, you will get smaller, weaker etc bcs your body does not have enough time to recover, especially when one is just starting to work out. Now eating mass gainers and proteins aren't steroids that make you buff just like that. They are just nutrients and vital biological structural components for you body to recuperate and build. When it comes to supplements, the rule 'the more I eat them the bigger I get' does not apply. Your body will use as much as it can but excessive intake will just be taken out of your organism. Im not going to say it will DAMAGE anything in your body but your kidneys and adrenal glands take a not needed pounding.

Every good thing takes time so don't expect miracles. When you accept that and set goals for yourself, it all will start coming together. It's great that you're trying to change your lifestyle and I can guarantee that once you achieve your goal, it will be amazing, so keep working hard, but smart - less is more. I like the fact that you mention that you have planned atleast 6 months ahead, shows you mean it and have dedication - truth be told, that's the only way you will get changes, it wont come overnight. On a more positive note, first 'gains' usually come very fast so that will hopefully keep you motivated. Keep it up, mate.

About your question regarding weight gain - every cal of energy you eat and don't use, will be stored as fat. So if you're gaining shitloads of weight in the first month, then something is wrong. Then just adjust your food intake and keep finding that perfect balance. In theory you only need like 100-200 excessive calories than you use to gain weight. I guess gaining between 1-2 kgs (about 2-4lbs) a month is a good and healthy way to gain weight without becoming fat in the process. Depends on the person, their metabolism and well.. frame that they want to fill. A few extra kgs will not be so visible on a 7ft person than on a 5ft person. Far fetched comparison but hopefully will help to make my point.

PS. I would suggest dividing that 40 grams of protein in half and consume it in 2 separate portions. Makes more sense, bcs your eating habits are OK, so you will get a lot of you needed protein anyway from your food so a lot of that 40g would go to waste. Keeps the so called protein spike stable in your body. Other than that, you're eating like a beast, hopefully this all works out for you, because in the end of the day, you know your body best. :D

Best wishes,

Well first I realy want to thank you for this long (and helpful) answer :)

Im 18 btw. And sure, I want to gain some muscle eventualy, but my first plan is just to gain weight (Im 60kg, planing to get 70kg for start. Then we'll see...) Sure I will try to eat as much as possible, and could give me some fat, but I think Im quite sporty person, so probably it wont have such effect. Also I wont be doing exercises every day, but every second day. That will give muscles time to recover. And right now, my workout will be quite simple. Then I will probably adding more to it, as my body will get stronger.

Thanks again

Just looked in the mirror. I (partially) see a 4-pack finally forming. I have never had anything like this before. I think I've had a belly since I was around 7. Going to go swimming for the first time tomorrow since I was, what, 5 or-so? (I always made excuses at school to not take part. Yolo.) Fuck yeah.

Will be getting my p90x on wednesday or so. I was gonna balance that, school, and my job but my mom saw my grades (which mind you arent bad 2 A-'s 2 B+'s 2 B's and a B-) but long and behold suddenly it seems like i no longer care about school in the words of my mom.

Pros of leaving my job:

  • well obviously more study time, but for my 3 AP classes expecially
  • i can do the program for the required 6 days instead of 5 days if had work.
  • if i actually do do my h.w. early then better sleeping patterns
  • that helps with my overall mood and recovery from the workouts.

Cons

  • No more revenue.
  • My plan for my dream 1st car is all but shot.
  • My resume for college takes a hit and will really really need to go ALL OUT in next two years in extra curricular acctivites and shit like that.
  • Im in my house the WHOLE WEEK and Lord knows i would rather be anywhere but home right now.

So pumped for the P90x to get here though, wish me l-u-c-k.

Psychological fitness is more important than physical fitness.

Both are equally important!
