  1. 1. Rafa Out?

Well some of us just have dignity and can't support a man who insulted us over the years.

He's the Chelsea manager now. It's going to be that way for the next 6 months in all likelihood. Maybe you should take your dignity and go on a sabbatical for a few months like Guardiola did.

The guy said some things to give his own fans a hard-on and they've come back to bite him on the arse. You might have been offended by them but we've got to support him now because he's running our club.

dignity? lmao get over it mate. At the end of the day, Liverpool was cutting his checks and now it's Chelsea. His comments added to the rivalry and I have no problem with it. If he said this yesterday after getting the job then I see your point.

I was obviously only joking about the comment made about him selling Mata off! After all, our managers don't have much say in the transfers...

Isn't that why we're all supporters in the first place? For the sake of the team. Why is it any different with Rafa? It's not like he has a personal agenda to sabotage this club. He has the same objectives as the fans and that's winning trophies. People should stop being bitter because of his past connections with Liverpool. He's a professional simply doing his day job.

RB may be a professional but he's a human after all and knowing that he won't be here for more than 6-7 months, what motivation would he have? If he wants to rebuild his reputation and/or perhaps try to land the job on a permanent basis, then good. If not, then I'm not sure how much are we going to get from this short term appointment. Additionally, his past record of spending more time dealing with matters off the pitch and not on it, worries me. His team's results and performances suffered as a result of that. It's his past failings that makes me really skeptical about him and I don't think there is anything wrong with that. Hence as I said before, can only hope and pray he has learned from his mistakes.

Im not pissed off with Benitez ...Im pissed off with Roman and the bunch of planks that call themselves a Board

Yeah. Could mean a lot of different things. It would be unwise of him to make the same mistakes as AVB.

Precisely my concern. He'll probably try to screw us up. Imagine him selling Mata off!

That said, I'm sure if something were to go terribly wrong, Roman wouldn't be afraid to sack him as well. If Moratti can sack 2 managers and have 3 managers in one season alone, then I'm sure Roman would do it as well.

He's only a coach, and so won't be involved in transfers...But yeah, I don't see how he could be motivated enough..Yes its a chance for him to advertise himself as a top manager, but is that reason enough? And more importantly how will the players feel?

Please tell me one good reason why he wouldn't want to build his reputation and make this a full time job? Not every club is run like Liverpool. He understands the magnitude of this squad and he wants to win trophies. Every manager has it's flaws and it's the fan's duty to judge him based on his results. A lot of people are writing him off already simply because he's not a likable figure. That's what bothers me the most. If he is unable to turn this around and continues to struggle then we have every right to criticize but as of now I think it's in the clubs best interest if we all stfu and support the team on Sunday instead of berating our manager because he made past comments about our flags.

Just because he's our new manager I can't be that fickle to all of a sudden like fat waiter. That doesn't mean I have stopped supporting my team,my club. If we do win trophies it won't be down to him, it will be the players, just as Robbie would and did say. And having watched his press conference I found it painful, his 'reasons' for slating US are lamentable.

But if we lose and are out of every competition early, will it be the manager's fault, or will it still be the players?

Not that timid to start booing the manager because of his past comments about us. Can't be bothered wasting my time over such trivial matters. And I don't think you quite understand the point I made. He maybe a football manager but still a human. If his motivation is right, then yay. Good for us all. If not, then that would only be catastrophic. Saw that his half a season contract is worth 1.5m itself! As for his flaws, like I said, can only hope he has learned from his mistakes including getting distracted with matters off the pitch and not repeat it. Not just gonna disregard him immediately. Will judge him based on the team's performances and results but right now, don't think there's anything wrong with people having doubts about him.

I agree we should go for someone long term, but that second season with Ancelotti was pretty poor in all honesty.

Mourinho set the bar extremely high and we've never truly replaced him. He's still 'our manager' in a very weird way. We all know who Roman truly wants to be Chelsea manager and it wasn't ever going to be Robbie.

Mourinho set the bar high because we had ridiculously talented teams then. Out talent level is nowhere near that right now. If you gave this Chelsea a CB combo of peak-level Carvalho and Terry (Never mind Makalele, peak-Lampard and Drogba, Ballack, etc...) do you think we'd have near the same defensive problems? Mourinho was the right manager for the team, but I think too many fans give him way too much credit. We won because Roman spent a ton of money buying a lot of world-class players. We had as much talent as any team in the world and a lot of managers would have had success with those squads. We simply have not replaced those players. Ancelotti's second season was a disappointment, but a lot of that was due to not replacing the Ranieri-era Chelsea that still made up our core and it wasn't that bad a season. We did finish second in the league. The inability to replace the core of the team is down to the board and they've now fired a bunch of managers for their own mistakes.

I don't disagree with that. The player we've never replaced is Makelele, but I don't think there's another one out there. Busquets is probably the closest, but it seemed for a time we didn't really know who to go for. We've only really recently replaced Robben and Duff with Hazard and a couple of others.

My view is that we actually potentially have a phenomenal squad coming up. The club things the same and they want a manager who can take them on for the next 5 years minimum. They don't want a potential weak link and that's how they saw Robbie. It's why they covet Guardiola.

Mourinho's words in April 2004, a mere 2 months before taking the Chelsea job.

link: http://www.telegraph...-Liverpool.html

Mourinho clearly stating he preferred the Liverpool job (in 2004). Bare that in mind when using Rafa's past words against him.

You can try and make yourself feel better about it all you want, the man is a twat and he doesn't deserve respect.

Mourinho got my respect when he won us the title mate and actually lived up to his bull shit.

Rafa shouldn't get any respect untill he actually does something for the club.
