James 5,389
Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku has completed a season-long loan move to West Brom. The Baggies won the race for the 19-year-old Belgium star, who had attracted interest from a number of clubs, including Fulham.Lukaku, who joined Chelsea for £18million last summer, will work under former Blues assistant manager Steve Clarke.Boyhood Chelsea fan Lukaku struggled to break into the first-team squad at Stamford Bridge last season and was prevented from being loaned out under FIFA rules, having already played for Anderlecht. But those barriers were lifted this summer, much to Lukaku's delight. He told Chelsea TV: 'I'm very excited. After last season, where I was able to adjust and prepare for this season, I can't wait to start at West Brom.'It's very important because, like Chelsea, West Brom play in the Premier League, but it will also be a good learning school for me where I need to work hard with the players around me.'I've heard a lot of positives about Steve Clarke here and it will be important for me to listen and learn from him. He plays good football.'Clarke, who was appointed to his first managerial post this summer, told his club's official website: 'I'm delighted to welcome Romelu to the club.'He's a strong, powerful centre-forward who is young, enthusiastic and eager to learn. He was also desperate to come here.'Romelu had a lot of Europe's top clubs chasing him when he joined Chelsea from Anderlecht for big money a year ago and also had several Premier League teams wanting to take him on loan this summer, so we've done well to get him.'With the calibre of strikers Chelsea have got, he's found it difficult to break into the first team at Stamford Bridge.'But he's had a season working at a top Premier League club and he now needs more minutes on the pitch.'We're more than happy for Romelu to continue his development with us. I am sure he will be a big help to the squad over the course of the season.'Source:Daily MailClick here to view the article
Ollie 4,400
Excellent move. WBA play good football and are also a premiership club so it's obviously good that he keeps himself in the prem and hopefully does some things against our rivals. Good stuff. Fulham Broadway 17,514
He might not get many starts above Long and Odemwingie, but coming on as a sub could be good for himHowever, my gut feeling is he wont make the grade at SW 6, and the hype of the 'next Drogba' was way over the top
Duppy Conqueror 1,570
hope the move will develop him further. to me he`s like an unopened fire damaged tin ..things don`t look that good now but we won`t know for sure till he`s opened up and we get to see what`s inside.Steve Clarke is the tin opener. Fulham Broadway 17,514
Odemwingie played on the wings a lot last year, and he probably will this year too.Possibly but he is a striker who scores a lot of goals
CHOULO19 24,332
Odemwingie played on the wings a lot last year, and he probably will this year too.Yes but they just signed Rosenberg as well which still probably makes Romelu their third choice striker. I hope I am wrong, but I think this loan will be pretty much like the Josh to Swansea one.

I hope I am wrong, but I think this loan will be pretty much like the Josh to Swansea one.I wouldn't worry about Rosenberg because he's shit but West Brom do have a worrying amount of strikers at the moment. Hopefully they will now get rid of someone to make room for Romelu.

RhonddaBlue88 14
Very good move for all parties involved this romelu has the potential to be a top player and has bags of ability already! he just needs the oppurtunity! should be a starter for wba maybe not at 1st but once hes settled a little he will soon be number 1!I guess this means we are probably going to go after cavani then! duno wether thats a good or bad thing???.. Torres needs to be the main striker for him to have any chance of turning his chelsea career around but i also rate sturridge and he shouldnt be 3rd choice he deserves a crack! but then again cavani is a quality striker and would add alot to the team! Blue Armour 4,587
Its very good considering Steve Clarke is their manager. He'll have a better chance to develop over there.

Hutcho 8,443
I agree with most of the comments that have been already posted, in that it is great news for us, west brom and especially and most crucially Lukaku... He will get valuable game time and i will especially look forward to seeing him try to become the "star" of the team... Will watch with interest... It cannot be a bad thing, even if he wasn't to have a great season, though i think he will do well, as West brom will be a bit more physica and direct and he can really work on his hold up play and especially first touch... No point having a 19 year old sitting on the bench for the season, and adding the fact he is going to a fellow premier league club means he will also get big game experience and anything he can do against the big teams will help us out a bit... Just hope he doesn't like it too much as we will want him back...
Ollie 4,400
Shoulda brought in Odemwingie as our back up striker as part of the deal. Oh well, i'm sure we'll get someone. I also don't believe Romelu will make it here but hope i'm wrong. £18m tho... that was too much.
AndersonBLUE 819
Don't rate Lukaku at all... I can't see him starting over their other strikers.
