🇧🇷 Oscar

I just saw this and I haven't seen it posted yet. Absolutely sickening he was allowed to carry on after that. Concussions should be treated with the utmost scrutiny but for some reason in football, it isn't.

When assessing Oscar's performance in this game, we can obviously only take into account the minutes leading up to the Ospina incident, because he was evidently struggling following that. With that in mind, he had another good game. For me it's his third consecutive good contribution in a row after his performances at QPR and against Man U, which is obviously what we are looking for from him - consistency. Hopefully this incident doesn't stall that for the remainder of the season.

IIRC, the recent media reports about Oscar being sold at the end of this season were at their height in the days leading up to the QPR game, so therefore these last three performances must be classed as a good response to a bit of pressure from Oscar. Similar to what we saw with Willian when people were questioning his position in the side after the purchase of Cuadrado.

In terms of the aforementioned incident itself, I have a lot of experience with concussions - I know one when I see one - and that was most certainly a concussion and Oscar shouldn't have been allowed to continue playing, simple.

He has left the hospital, but I would be surprised if we see him against Leicester, and he may even struggle to get up for Palace. Wishing him all the best though.

finally finds some good form and then ospina clatters him like that. hope oscar makes a full recovery. some players come back from concussion and are never the same.

That mostly applies to hockey, American football and other sports with constant physical contact to the head, though.

He was out cold after that collision. The hand moving etc is like what boxers or MMA fighters sometimes do when they get knowed out. He was unconscious.

I feel strongly that when someone gets KO'd like that they should NOT be able to continue in the game.

Seems he is fine, and that's great, but one day, someone will not be....

Funny you should say that. I had actually singled out hockey in my post originally, but then took it out before posting.

Before that collision his movement and pasing were top notch, it has to be said.
Absoultely shocking, how that is not a penalty, a card, or anything for that matter. So If I knock out cold someone like that, and am a goalkeeper, I wouldn't be punished, so I can do it all the time. SHOCKING decision, to say the least. Thank God, he hit him only in the face. Had it been in the side of his head, we'd be fearing for his life now. Get well soon, Oscar!

Couldn't agree more.

He was completely out of it after the collision. He shouldn't have been kept on for both his own health as well as the team's.

How the officials thought the gk did not foul Oscar is beyond me and I guess most ppl.

How does it have anything to do with the collision, when he was on the bench vs Leicester and even went to train in order to be ready to get in the game?

Setbacks maybe? I can only speak from what I know from the NHL but it's common there that players experience setbacks even though they were cleared for contact practice.

Oscar hasn't been called up for Brazil's Copa America squad this summer because of injury. This means this will be his first summer off since 2010.

2011 - U-20 World Cup

2012 - London Summer Olympics

2013 - Confederations Cup

2014 - World Cup
