Agreed. Football is a very competitive market and it is VERY easy to attract top players when you offer top wages.

Can't really agree with the idea that Hazard is carrying the team when every manager, and now himself, tells us otherwise.

Mourinho said that Hazard had a free role and the rest ran for him. Some into the ground (like Oscar). Conte did not say anything, but hazard performances in his second season spoke for themselves.

Now Sarri is saying that Hazard plays for himself and not the team. The player's answer is that he does not care about what the manager says, and that he does play for himself (to be happy or whatever other nonsense he said). I honestly cannot understand how folks don't see a pattern here.

It's really not about the stats, but the context in which we take them. Hazard is not a team player and either he is shining on his own, in which case the team benefits from it, or he is useless and the team hurts a lot. Because when a different type of player has a bad day, he might still do the defensive phase (like Sarri likes to say), which Hazard does not seem willing to (which drives the criticism from the manager). So, while Hazard's and this other player may have similar attacking stats, their defensive numbers, or even the more subtle ones (like how many off-the-ball runs), can be drastically different.

Hazard carries this team. If he plays well, the team plays well. If he doesn't play well, the team doesn't play well. 

It's been like that for a while now. There just isn't anyone else he can look to to share the burden. 

Our most succesfull years ,after the old guard era, was when we had Costa and Fabregas. Why ? because Costa took some of the burden by scoring 20 goals.

Because Fabregas took some of the creative burden. People here expect Hazard to be some 1 man army.

Always playing great in nearly every single game. The consistency you demand doesn't exist. It simply doesn't exist. No one is that consistent maybe if you only watch the highlights of the other teams. 

C ronaldo had months where he looked like shit, Neymar went several months without scoring a single goal at Barcelona, Messi had periods where he looked like he was going out for an evening stroll.  

They're human beings. Form fluctuates. They have periods where things go great and periods where things aren't going great.

When Hazard has his period where things don't go great, we crumble and you people fucking crucify him for it every single fucking time.

The consistency doesnt exist? Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar all more consistent. That is a fact. In the last 4 seasons Eden fell completely off the map in 2 of them after being arguably the player of the year in title winning seasons. Or you going to tell me that is perfectly fucking normal? 😂

If Hazard was Willian this thread would be full of criticism every week, regardless of performances so I think there is a bit of biast in all fairness. If you are happy with Eden playing like this too fair enough 😂 I know I aint. Half arsed it for ages now except the Spurs game.

Also good to see youve actually acknowledged Costa and Cescs roles because others on here would soley just give Eden all the credit for those title winning seasons.

I agree he’s not so consistent as those top players you are mentioning, but hey they play in world class teams. We have mid table players who most of the time only play sideways or backwards.

I totally agree with you guys on the rm talk, it’s getting embarrassing last weeks. (Although most of times ripped out of context imo)

Head is turned. Why really bother learning a new system and philosophy when he knows he is gone in the summer. He just do his thing right now. I think thats the problem with the squad atm. Willian, Pedro and Hazard knows their future is uncertain due to intrest from RM and our over 30 policy. Their heads aren’t here 100%. 

And that is on the boards table. Should have fixed that last summer.

The thing that the majority on here are losing site of is that all this playing sideways,backwards is all part of this playing style.

Its used when teams play deep and as a method for bringing them out to create space for the forwards to move into!!

No he didn't "fall of the map" in two of them.

The first of them he was playing through injury and last season he was playing some of his best football in his career for the first half of the season

Last season except the first 3 months and a run of 5 games towards the end of the year he was again, very very ordinary. That season under Jose and Hiddink, injuries or whatever, when he actually played he was like a totally different player in a very bad way. When last seasons major turning point and big games came up when we were fighting to try and stay comfortable in top 4 he was poor like many (who got crucified every week regardless). Theres obviously issues with a huge chunk of the squad for inconsistentcy, not just Eden but he is a huge culprit, perhaps one of the biggest because when he plays at his best he is unplayable and it is unacceptable for the lack of effort he shows at times. Im not buying him playing as a false 9 as an excuse for when the going gets tough in terms of performancs or effort .

The first six months I can cite the Atletico, Roma, United, West Brom, Newcastle and Atletico again performances that would all be in his overall top 20.

As for the injury season , he played through injury up until he finally cracked in December , Hiddink managed his recovery properly which eventually led to his recovery in form.
