When are we going to stop judging Eden on his goals? he is never going to bag 50 a season because he isn't that type of player, he will only shoot if the shoot is on.

The criticism/under appreciation of this guy is comical, especially considering Mata had a legal defence team on his thread any time he was even remotely criticised.

Doesn't need to bag 50, most would settle for 20-25. The reason people want more from him is because he is capable and right now he's not playing to his full potential... Can anyone dispute that?

The thing is, only Messi and Ronaldo play to their full potential most games, I have seen Bale, Reus, Neymar, Robben all have their quiet games, good games then games where they are touched by god.

If Hazard has 20 percent amazing games then 50 percent good and even in quiet games still make an impact that's enough for me, if he can improve further then even better.

Yep it is that 'potential' talk again now...if Oscar reaches his potential he will be the best CAM in the world, if Courtois keeps up his potential he will be one of the best GK in Chelsea history, if Dave...then he will be the back bone of Spain and us for at least 10 years.

Potential...some reaches them, some don't. Everyone got potential, Lukaku got it to become the best ST in the world. And many other talented youngsters.

Perhaps as good as those players but not better than them (especially Robben whose peak form and consistency is just terrifying). I think you are also forgetting that Reus and bale are only 2 years older than hazard and could still get better even though they are already genuine world class players.

That could perhaps be true for Bale and Reus (easier said than done) However I can't see him eclipsing Robben, infact I can't see any current player 23 and under doing that. If anything this further proves my theory that Arjen is still extremely underrated despite his reputation.

Hazard's all round game is levels ahead of Bale and Reus. Robben & Neymar are different stories altogether, those two have all his strengths but also regularly contribute with goals.

For Hazard to be considered better than the likes of Robben, Ribery...etc he needs to:

Win CL or WC

Nominated for world 11 or top 3 best players in the world at some point

Hitting double figures for goals/assists for every single year unless he spent that year out injured for a long time

Obviously he can never reach CR7, Messi height because those 2 are possibly top 5 football players in history

Nah he's not underrated at all but he's definitely not an all-time great. He's a one trick pony who made a habit of vanishing in big games... He's only recently found some consistent levels of high performances. Hazard, if he reaches his full potential, has more in the locker than Robben, much more.

To be honest last year when teams played against Chelsea they very much set up firstly to stop Chelsea playing but they also went about nullifying the threat of Hazard more than any player by doubling up on him and preventing him from playing 1v1 in dangerous areas. Now that we have Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas, I think that gives him a bit more freedom knowing that hes not always gonna be the only player teams really worry about when they face us so he should have a better season than last year, as he doesn't have to carry the team by himself.

I seriously dun't think he'll be a major candidate for Ballon d'or I mean in top 5 or 7 unless he improves his goal scoring record which is not good at all, last season he was good but this season he has managed just 1 goal from 6 apps. I mean compared to other players of similar age group Neymar and Bale whom both are scoring for fun nowdays. Let alone Ronaldo and Messi he's nowhere near them I mean nowhere in terms of output.

Sorry but I can't see him being in top 5 till he improves his output.
