Schurrle signing confirmed; will wear #14

Come on now. Should we question how much any player cost ?

Some are too much, some are not.

At Chelsea money is not something, we should be worried about.

Obviously, the club sees something in Schurrle. Otherwise, they would not chase after him for almost a year.

Personally, I am happy to see any player bought by the club.

After all, the club can not win much with depleted bench.

The more players on the bench, the better the team. Roman wants to win & win big. Therefore, Jose is coming & players are being bought.

Why weren't they in for Azpi? Or De Bruyne? Or Courtois? This is just how football goes sometimes. Other teams have other priorities and see different things in different players. Clearly the people at this club see something in this guy and it's not something impulsive or recent.

I don't think anyone expected Courtois to develop so rapidly in the past 2 seasons.

De Bruyne was chased by a few lower-end Italian clubs...but they didn't meet Genk's price from what I remember.

As for Azpi, brilliant signing by the scouting department. He'd have to be one of the best value for money purchases of recent times.

But yea, I get your point...we made it a priority to sign talented youngsters with high potential...hopefully the investment pays off!

Why are none of the big clubs chasing him? Why are we paying such a 'low' fee for a young German international, compared to say Gotze or what Reus might go for? Doesn't that set off alarm bells?

Apparently there is interest from Dortmund for him

If Schurrle was so bad & selfish, then why is he playing for the German national team ?

Personally, I can not say much about him because I have not seen him playing much.

However, something is telling me he could be a very fine acquisition.

marin was in the 2010 world squad for germany. being called for a national side does not mean he is a great player.

So, your point is...?

His point is exactly what he wrote in reply to you asking if hes so bad and selfish, why is he playing for the German national team.

U SAID "if schurlle was so selfish, then why would he be called for the national team".

I SAID "even marin was called for the german national team".

hence the point is BEING A NATIONAL TEAM PLAYER SHOULD BE NO CRITERIA OF JUDGING IF THE PLAYER IS GOOD/BAD/AVERAGE.

actually i remember very well his first match against (i dont remember which team) but i do remember that germany were 4-0 up in their group stage match when marin was subbed in. he was good, created a few chances which cacau missed. i dont think he got another match in that tournament.

schürrle starts way more regularly than marin does. he is in the squad for a few years, while marin was just called up a few times. also, germany is now stronger than 2010.

Marin was prone to injuries & should not be compared to Shurrle.

marin was 21 when he was called to national team. i am sure he was not labelled as "injury prone" at that point of time. he was called to the national team because they saw "potential" which marin has not yet stood upto.

schurlle is 22, to be honest i dont think he has the potential to become a great winger, hence simply dont see the point of spending 20 million on him. real madrid seem to be off-loading di maria, he would be a much better buy for that kind of money.

" He would go on to play twice at the World Cup in South Africa, both as a substitute in Germany's 4–0 win over Australia and in the subsequent 1–0 loss to Serbia. After disappointing performances, however, notably in the game against Serbia, Marin was not selected for any more games in the tournament"

Whatever, you think it´s fine & dandy but I would rather rely on Chelsea´s management.

Despite of it, you still can amuse us here.
