He's managed national teams before, managed Switzerland in USA 94 and apparently did very well with Finland too and someone else, he's managed all over the world, he does show a lot of passion on the sidelines and managed the likes of Inter & Liverpool so you never know. He has a lot of experience and maybe, just maybe this will prove to be a very shrewd move. He seems more like an international manager than a club manager. Yid fans must be over the moon btw.

I'm not saying it's the best choice but at least he has seen it and done it in international football. Arry asn't. There's no substitute for experience in football.

Actually, if he can replicate his track record with no-hope clubs like Fulham, he could do well with a relatively no-hope country. Give him a big national job where the country is expected to do more than avoid embarrassment and he'll fuck it up.

On another note, why don't the FA appoint Jonathan Foreigner again? Over in Australia we've also got a dearth in terms of good domestic managers, probably even worse than England and we've been able to punch above our weight by appointing European managers.

Considering Hodgson's experience in national team management and his record at mediocre teams like Fulham and West Brom (no disrespect ..) and the fact that a glance at the England squad reveals them to be no more than a bunch of mediocre players plus Rooney, it's a good choice.

It's probably for the best as far as Harry's concerned, it's not like he would been able to make head or tail of the appointment letter anyway, what with his illiteracy et al.

You don't have to be literate to say 4-4-2 up and at them lads.

I think 'Arry made the smart choice; he knew that he is probably not going to do too well with the national team, so he decides to stick to what he has done well with and leaves everyone wondering what might have been if he had taken the job.
