Trying to Overturn the Suspensions

Thats exactly right.

how half of the footballing world knew they are one yellow away from suspension, and they didn't, is beyond me.

But how often do you see a yellow given for 'kicking a penlty spot'. Either the ref was a complete twat or there was more to the booking, who knows

Precisely, no self awareness..

And never mind the frivolous cards for kicking a penalty spot. Even JT's 'incident' would have most likely only been a stern yellow in the PL.

I doubt it. Off-the-ball incidents are generally dealt with harshly, like Iva's suspension. All the same, the linesman probably wouldn't have noticed it in the PL.

Can understand where RDM is coming from but not sure if that was really a good idea.

I think what RDM did was completely right in doing what he did. I know there was some consequences to it but if you look at it, it was something which was totally absurd on that yellow cards. It couldnt have been prevented even if the players knew that they were one card away from suspension because those cards were not from the book ( how can u yellow card someone for stamping the penalty spot or just arguing with the ref)

Out of the Blue: Di Matteo did not tell Euro stars about looming final bans

Chelsea boss explains why he deliberately kept result of being booked against Barca in Champions League semi's decider from Ivanovic and co

Di Matteo said: "I decided not to tell them because I wanted them to focus just on the game, and there isn't an issue with any of the players."

Insisting he would not have done differently in hindsight, he added: "As you saw the other night, you can be booked for anything. You have to focus on the task you have to do."

It is just a tabloid from Munich, but I really hope both clubs do this. Maybe, just maybe UEFA would see reason. If they intend to change the rule, and both teams would be rewarded with 3 players each being made eligible, and the game (and thus ratings) would be improved, only a body completely daft would refuse. And since it's UEFA, no way in chance they do it.

I doubt both will appeal when UEFA came out and said they won't change their policy this season. To reiterate my last point, we have no right to ask for this rule to be changed this season. Maybe before next season's.

The rules MIGHT be changed for Barca or REAL ...BUT they would HAVE TO BE CHANGED FOR LIVERPOOL..

Defintly.Still surprised they havent changed any rules to make sure they get into the CL....And really shocked they actually went into Europa in the first place..surprised no loop hole was found there!

Cant see them changing their policy..be nice but nah never gana happen..or not when an English clubs involved...

Even Sky have now picked up on it. RDM said they would consider appealing if there's any possibility but admits it will be very difficult.

Here's the thing I'm curious about(posted this last week IIRC). Had Madrid & Barcelona made it to the final and Messi & Ronaldo are both suspended, would UEFA ignore the plea not to suspend them for the Champions League final?!
