capriccioso 2,545
Our drought never really did happen..think the hose pipe band lasted a few weeks and that was itHow long do you have to go without rain for a drought to be declared by the government?I think it's about one month to 6 weeks without any/very little rain over here, for water restrictions to start being imposed. We've now gone 21 days in Sydney without so much as a drop of rain, and its been 36 days since we last had a decent amount of rain, pretty unusual for winter. BluesChick 1,260
Cap, Depends on where you live and what "normal rainfall" is. Most of the US is considered to be under drought conditions at the moment and our they say the fall food prices will be higher as a result. capriccioso 2,545
Oh hell no. It's fucking snowing in Goulburn, only about 80-90km away from where I live. This is Australia damn it, it should only snow in the Snowy Mountains. Perhaps Tasmania. Also the temperature has dropped from a reasonable 13 degrees to a downright freezing 6 degrees in the space of 18 minutes. And the sun still hasn't set! capriccioso 2,545
Well, its only been a week since we had snow in a place just about 100km south of Sydney (by Aussie standards, that's next to nothing- a daily commute from that distance is the norm) and it's now hot. 29 degrees today, and its only September. It's going to be a suffocatingly hot summer if we're hitting 29 in the first week of spring.

capriccioso 2,545
This is insanity. Fine, sunny, 29 degree day yesterday; a bitterly cold 15 degree day today with freezing winds.
Ollie 4,400
So you have 29 degree days and droughts in Winter? That doesn't sound normal for a country that actually has a winter. Here, a drought is like 3 days lol. Well, we have hosepipe bans n shit when it gets to about 4-6 weeks but that certainly doesn't happen to us in winter. We have had a few droughts though in the last few years but then when someone mentions the hosepipe ban, it then pisses down with rain for the next 2 weeks. At the moment here, it's lovely. The sun's out, the sky's blue and it's reasonable. Bit chilly but that's because it's early. It's been a fantastic week although it's technically autumn now.... Summer was a disaster. back to the Philippines i go next year.
capriccioso 2,545
It's spring right now, actually. It's only the extreme southern parts of the country (basically on the south or south-west coast/Tasmania) that have wetter winters. In NSW typically it rains far more in summer than winter. capriccioso 2,545
And back to a warm day again today. The weather of late has more twists and turns than a multilateral free trade agreement where the USA is involved.

Madinmex 3
Just moved to Spain from 12 years in the North of Mexico. Was hoping to have some cooler weather ! It has not dropped below 30º+ since the beginning of May and is frequently 40+ at noon. At least in Mexico we would have the occasional hurricane to cool things down
