What made me feel so glad was the reaction of the opposition supporters and players. This really shows that football is just a game and it should never be taken so seriously ! Everyone forgot about the game in fact hardly anyone knows what the score was I certainly don't know because football was 2nd for once among supporters.

Petr Cech :

"People saw me crawling off the pitch and it took so much time before I was carried off on a stretcher. People couldn't get me out of the dressing room.

"Imagine if this had happened to Fabrice back then. By the time anyone could have got to him, he might not have had any chance."

"I was glad to see that at least since then that all the medical issues and the structure has changed for the better. He still has a chance to survive because of all the equipment around the pitch. It is a great change.

"Sometimes, it can only take a few seconds to change a life or whole career. It is good now that after what happened with me, people get the facilities and medical rules really improved."

Cech watched Saturday's game, which was abandoned once the seriousness of Muamba's condition became clear.

"You feel for the family and the people who are all close to him and all the players on the pitch because it's really hard to see something like that.

"At the time when I got injured, no-one really knew how serious it was from the start, but you could see straight away this time how serious it was.

"Everybody made the right decision to stop the game. I don't think the players would have had the right concentration to be able to continue."

Cech returned after just over two months on the sidelines but has had to wear protective headgear ever since.

"When I woke up after the operation and even a few days later, football was the last thing on my mind," Cech said. "You want to try to recover your life in the normal way and then, when you have a chance, you can think further."

Bringing the thread back on-topic, what's the future now for Fabrice given he'll at the very least retain his mental qualities? Apparently he's some kind of maths whiz, and has a passion for accounting. And he can always go into coaching.

He won't become a quadra/paraplegic will he?

I hope it doesn't lead to him retiring early from the game... it WILL take him months to recover though since his mental abilities are not there yet

the BIG breakthrough, is that he is talking to people! It just goes to show how far we've come in terms of technology, and what it can do to keep important people alive!

Essien told him Torres had scored and he said ''Fuck me , how long have I been unconscious ?''

This alone deserves the member of the month award ! :D

Wow, watch the video lads. Must of been very scary for him having to do what he did being so close to him. Absolute legend!

Beautiful article, almost brought a tear to my eye reading those quotes. So happy that he's feeling much better and very very proud of those doctors and physios that helped Fabrice. Just makes me want to appreciate those around me that much more, cause you never know what can happen. Money, job, sports might be fun, but not being there for the ones you care about is something one will regret forever.

Gonna take a holiday and visit my parents again.
