CHOULO19 24,332
The Leeds doctor who ran to Fabrice Muamba’s aidhttp://www.yorkshire...-aid-1-4362550#If When Muamba pulls through, it will have a lot to do with this man great effort. Fortunate that he was on the scene and quick to react.
BlueLion. 21,491
The medics reacted wonderfully. Knew straight away what was going on, like ESPN said 'if he pulls through, it will be solely down to the quick work of the medical team'Absolutely. I know this may sound awful, but such a thing happening actually makes you proud of human achievement; we now have the power to potentially stop death. I hope the lad pulls through, and as you say, it will entirely be down to that wonderful group of people that reacted so brilliantly, in a true professional manner, to do what they did in such pressurised circumstances. The whole world was watching. Its times like these you hope there is a God, because such good-will could only result in a positive outcome. LDN Blue 7,903
Good news coming through that he's doing better, moving his limbs too! Hope this case now marks an age of more extensive, regular cardio tests for players.

Badboy 1,526
What made me feel so glad was the reaction of the opposition supporters and players. This really shows that football is just a game and it should never be taken so seriously ! Everyone forgot about the game in fact hardly anyone knows what the score was I certainly don't know because football was 2nd for once among supporters. capriccioso 2,545
He's speaking So he won't be a vegetable now will he?I don't think you're comment is racist at all, but what you may have picked up on is that it is a problem that has a correlation to ethnicity as well as hereditary. A study in the US found that African-American athletes were 3 x more likely to have an abnormal ECG than their white counterparts.http://www.sportssaf.../heart-disease/http://www.cardiosma...lt.aspx?id=1240What I find amazing is that they miss these heart issues even with all the medical screenings that professional athletes undergo.Any news on Muamba today? Is he still being kept in an induced coma? My prayers and thoughts are with him and his family. I can imagine how his wife feels and my heart breaks for her.So there is a correlation? That doesn't sound too good for us. Our team has quite a few Africans and people of African heritage.

Madmax 9,219
Petr Cech :"People saw me crawling off the pitch and it took so much time before I was carried off on a stretcher. People couldn't get me out of the dressing room."Imagine if this had happened to Fabrice back then. By the time anyone could have got to him, he might not have had any chance.""I was glad to see that at least since then that all the medical issues and the structure has changed for the better. He still has a chance to survive because of all the equipment around the pitch. It is a great change."Sometimes, it can only take a few seconds to change a life or whole career. It is good now that after what happened with me, people get the facilities and medical rules really improved."Cech watched Saturday's game, which was abandoned once the seriousness of Muamba's condition became clear."You feel for the family and the people who are all close to him and all the players on the pitch because it's really hard to see something like that."At the time when I got injured, no-one really knew how serious it was from the start, but you could see straight away this time how serious it was."Everybody made the right decision to stop the game. I don't think the players would have had the right concentration to be able to continue."Cech returned after just over two months on the sidelines but has had to wear protective headgear ever since."When I woke up after the operation and even a few days later, football was the last thing on my mind," Cech said. "You want to try to recover your life in the normal way and then, when you have a chance, you can think further."

capriccioso 2,545
Bringing the thread back on-topic, what's the future now for Fabrice given he'll at the very least retain his mental qualities? Apparently he's some kind of maths whiz, and has a passion for accounting. And he can always go into coaching. He won't become a quadra/paraplegic will he? chrismada9 1,948
I hope it doesn't lead to him retiring early from the game... it WILL take him months to recover though since his mental abilities are not there yetthe BIG breakthrough, is that he is talking to people! It just goes to show how far we've come in terms of technology, and what it can do to keep important people alive!
capriccioso 2,545
Even if he does have to end his career, I think he'll be fine financially for his life. Accountants get paid well.Emotionally it'll be a bitter pill for him to swallow.
