I really don't understand people saying 'He should leave now while he is on a high and he can be remembered as a legend'. How shallow minded do you have to be? The guy was one of our greatest ever midfielders before he even took up the managers job. We then go and win the FA Cup and beat Napoli and Barcelona in incredible fashion before beating Bayern and winning our first ever Champions league. Would one potentially bad season really ruin his reputation as a legend after all he has done? Only if you are silly.

Really don't understand how he cannot get the job

I can. The fact that he won the CL does not mean we should overlook the fact that he never went through the hiring stage (his CV was never judged or considered) and that no talks between the club and him in March extended over that 3 month period.

I know that over-analyzing anything that was said in the night of the final is very risky but his interview in the mixed zone gave me the impression that he's not staying. Of course any possible parting will be presented as mutual or even sought by RDM for personal reasons (not that he cannot take a long break from football to enjoy his achievement).

  1. No coach (apart from someone like Mourinho/Wenger) will be held responsible by the club for transfers.
  2. Abramovich wants a "big name"? Do you people think he's retarded or a 11 year old who inherited billions? Why is such bullshit repeated all the time? Such a simplistic logic does not apply to any 1st division club in all the big leagues of Europe. The club may want someone proven, which is understandable considering the annual investment being made.

All fans are grateful to him, except for maybe only some hardcore AVB fanboys, however not necessarily everyone would want him to become the new manager during this important transition period when Chelsea have to start putting together a new squad capable of not only winning but also winning with style (not that I care about aesthetics as long as we keep winning but this is Roman's ultimate goal). In order to achieve this goal, the club would need to sever the ties with the influential, defensive-oriented old guards brought in by Mourinho but after all that has happened this season I think RDM has become too emotionally attached to them to do so. Moreover, he seems to be more of a motivational type of manager than a tactical/technical one. The board haven't appointed him as full-time manager yet probably because they have taken those points into account.

It's a quite interesting decision. RDM's main factor was his motivation towards the players. He has shown weaknesses in his tactics and that is what is bothering Roman for the fact that we were lucky this year.

What will happen this summer is a mystery.
