I think he's having a great game tonight, he wins challenges and covers well, he brings the power and the tactical guarantee we really lacked under AVB

I wasn't especially for AVB's sacking but one of the reasons I think the decision was right was his misuse of Mikel since the preseason. When he wanted to change the whole play of the team and also the player who allowed a certain balance tactically to cover many others. It was a mistake in my opinion. But right to the pre-season I though that Villas Boas could achieve to learn how to press and close spacces in transition phasis so I wasn't worried about Mikel's role. But as the season went on it really became a point to explain to me, especially when we were that awful to defend counter attacks and as we saw, to be honest, no evolution in that domain.

One of the reasons why the midfield was often average under AVB, players of the likes of Meireles or Ramires really lacked lucididity forward because they felt they had to defend as well, by example closing and covering the space in front of the back four and trying to tackle to get the ball. And Romeu was also useless behind the Ramires-Meireles pair

A reason to be happy about AVB's use of Lampard (It was OK in my opinion). Seeing Lampard weeks after weeks in a role where he would have to defend (due to Mikel's absence) would have produced an insane amount of shit which would really have annoyed me.
