Shit defending but a very intelligent run and that little burst of pace without going offside....the kid is a natural. I'd back him to score a goal at any level because he's just got that knack of finding space in the box.

Just compare that run he made there for the run that Torres consistently FAILS to make, most recently against Palace when Azpi put the ball in almost exactly the same place.

Some quotes from another forum from Derby fans:

"At Derby he has looked lightweight and too easily is muscled off the ball. His general play has improved recently and he does have skill but isn't especially quick.

He knows where the net is though.

I don't think he is anywhere near ready for the Premiership at the moment, at least not as a starter. He needs another season in the Championship beefing himself up and learning a few old-fashioned centre-forward skills while being pushed and shoved around by grizzly defenders."

"I have to concur with *above post* on this one. When I watched him in the Forest game, he looked surprisingly lightweight, and in physical challenges can be easily knocked off the ball. I don't think he's ready for the Prem yet. However, he's got that one thing most managers would kill for in a player: an eye for the goal. He just seems to find it. A single contribution from him can turn a game. Needs to work on his strength, then he'll be formidable. He's a long way from making any Chelsea starting line-up. "

"Agree with *above two posts*. He has some Prem qualities (skill and finishing both excellent) but isn't ready yet. Needs to beef it up a bit first moer than anything.

I dont see him adding anything to Chelsea as yet, maybe in a year or 2."

"To put it bluntly he's too lightweight.easily gets knocked off the ball and not quite ready for the premiership yet"

"He ideally needs more physical stature to continue in the Championship, but has enough about him to be effective in the EPL where the referees tend to be a little more European than those we see in the second tier. He has talent in spades though and I'd like to have seen a bit more of him up top centrally rather than wide in a three, but he happens to be up against a man in form for that role and so plays wide or not at all."

"He's been playing on the right at Derby. He isn't a natural wide player but because Derby play 4-3-3 and he isn't considered strong enough to play on his own centrally, this is a compromise position to enable him to be on the pitch to score goals. Derby have 4 good wide players so he has been playing about 50% of the time, although recently because of injuries he has been playing throughout matches. His eventual position will no doubt be central so he needs to play somewhere where he can get experience in this position."

"Very good player and a great attitude, if you played a 4-4-2 possibly you could have him as a squad player, as a hold the ball up solo attacker maybe not just yet, although we haven't seen him in that position as people have already said, last couple of games he's been given more of a licence to roam and does look more dangerous when central than on the wings, his tracking back, defensive play and reading of the game are a long way off elite Premiership standard probably even Championship standard.

He also loses confidence quite easily and can give away possession through sloppy passes and sloppy dribbling, this could be as a result of having the 5hit kicked out him by more traditional champioship players. I imagine with the players your immoral concentration of wealth buys you, you'd get him more service and be able to pull players out of position better thus giving him more space to make an impact though.

Needs to work on his right foot, getting a few more tricks in the bag (defenders have caught on to letting him cut inside from the right and shoot with the left) and decision making. If you did use him next season I think it would only be as a last 10 minute sub, think he'd develop better on loan somewhere else for half a season and then take stock in January.

Not sure Jose will show patience though."

"As for Bamford, quite good technically but poor decision making and weak."

Maybe not the completely stellar reviews you might expect - but I reckon this has to do with him playing wide. He is a goal poacher and although he does still get goals playing wide it maybe exposes the flaws in his games more as he gets on the ball more often outside the box. These were written a couple of games before - and since then he's carried on scoring, I'm sure their opinion of him continues to be more positive.

I say next season we loan him in the Championship for 6 months then access if the time is right for the step up, a bit like we did this season with L1 to the Championship.

The last thing he needs is to get rushed into a PL loan and spend most off it on the bench.

If Derby win the playoff Bamford might have a spot in their squad, he is their best goalscorer this year.

I reckon 6 more months would do him a lot of good in the Championship, but if Derby get promoted, I want for him to go with them to the Premier League. The boy scores goals for fun, and hasn't he been playing as RM for a lot of his time there?

I think good scenario would be stick with Derby either way for another season

Why? He's been thrown out on the wing and benched every time he fails to score in a single match and now he hasn't been given any sniff of the playoffs despite playing a part in getting the team there. He's done very well at Derby despite the bad way he's been handled and treated.

Next season he should be loaned to a championship team that will play him as a striker and handle him properly.

The manager had said that he didnt like the way he drifted out of games and that he needed to learn to get involved in games more(the game he scored a super goal late on to win apparently he was just about to get taken off)so i guess thats whats happening last few games, but at the end of season the backroom staff will look at the progress he has made and decide has he progressed enough to play premiership footie or championship again, but if Derby do get promoted it looks the logical move imho, with talks with Cfc on working on certain areas.Ps i think he came on Sundays game with a assist.

We should loan him somewhere he will be starter. He made good season and some of the Premiership clubs may want him but they can't offer him starting place. So maybe we will loan him in Championship. My only hope is to see him playing regularly and hope not to f*ck him up as the club did with many youngers.

Pretty good interview of Bamford in the Guardian.

Seems like Mourinho and the club have plans for him next season to possibly have him as the 3rd choice ST.

Quality read that. Crazy how he turned down a scholarship from Havard University to play football though.
