I always thought it was:

Hazard vs Schurrle for the left spot
Oscar vs Mata for the middle spot
Willian vs KDB for the right spot

But whatever.

I'm still a big fan of Kevin, I kinds knew this would happen the minute we sold him. I remember members here bashing him after some League Cup performances, saying he's not Chelsea level, he can't pass for his life.. etc. I bet most of those people backed Jose's decisions back then, even mocking KDB and Mata for the sake of it, and many of those have different opinions now. Congratulations!

Same here. I distinctly remember posting my disappointment when we sold Kev. That we would regret it later on.

With Lukaku I'll admit that I wasn't sad to see him go, but De Bruyne will be a constant, painful reminder for years to come of what a massive mistake we've made. Only thing that can let us get over it is if we sign someone near his level to replace Oscar.

I tell you what I remember. KDB impressing in pre-season and then bossed our first game of the season against Hull at a young age. He obivously had 1 bad game after and one gaainst Swindon about couple weeks later but it was clear he had talent from the go. But Mourinho being the person he is and not giving a fuck about the future, made a mistake and it has shot us in the foot. I never wanted him gone because I knew he was going to be a quality player. No other manager would have got rid of him and Lukaku the way Mourinho did. You have to give them game time to prove themselves.

Can you imagine what Mourinho would do if he had the likes of Kane and Alli at his disposal.

I think Kevin put it perfectly himself a while ago when he said that because he wasn't a big name or an expensive signing Chelsea didn't give him a fair chance. He wasn't a big exotic, famous name like Oscar or even Schürrle at the time.

well, you take someone out of the team without justification, and chuck them on some league 1 cowfield 3 months later... the passing is going to be off

Yes, and yet some fans thought that that was a clear indication that KDB isn't Chelsea level. Quick judgement can bite you in the ass later. :)

I don't get why we have to repeat the same thing over and over again.
Yes, De Bruyne is class, but why isn't there a big discussion going on in the Mata/Schurrle/and so on threads on praising the sellings?
People really like to stick it to some people, only focusing on the negatives, going to bed. Too predictable...:)

Would also be easier to stomach if our own Belgian star didn't have an abysmal season...

But I 100% guarantee all of you that Oscar will still be lining up next season as our "playmaker." A playmaker that rarely scores, contributes almost no assists, has no creative vision, and has one good game against a random, shit team for every 10 matches he plays.

he was motm in his full debut too. but jose knows best. got to build the team around golden boy

This to me shows that Mourinho got a lot of control in transfer.

Mourinho sold the younger players to get his players that he wanted. And a lot of people say that he didn't get anything he wanted in the transfer window....

This is why I'm not like most that think our board is incompetent and all that.

In fact I think our board is great, they was doing a great job before the individual came here and screw everything up. And it was great that they realize their mistakes and sack the individual.

Now they can go back to the deals they was doing before and hopefully Conte will be progress from the individual.

I still don't know why we bought Willian if KDB was allegedly in Jose's plans for the season. Was it a board signing vs manager signing type of situation? Maybe we'll never know.

I'm not fairly convinced in the whole "Mourinho never gives youth opportunity" theory. Because there have been exceptions like Robben, Zouma and Varane. I think it has more to do with attitude and egos than age. But that's just me.

zouma cost £12m, and was one of the most hyped players in his position.... and he still made a meal of it, even starting cahill over zouma at the start of the season, no wonder he went on to be sacked, just idiocy

Don't know if I'm willing to go that far. Mourinho certainly had a lot of control in his first two seasons, clearly. This past year, though, the board and owner had become obsessed with FFP, balancing the books, and became content with the squad.

We know as fact that Mou wanted a few top class players to improve the team and if things were totally up to him they'd have been signed. The board were either incompetent with some transfers (Stones) or straight up didn't try or left it too late for others. Still place most of the blame on the board myself.

Yes and those two years it showed what he was all about, short term glory then building for the future.

It was good that the board tighten up.

Courtois, Hazard, De Bruyne, Lukaku, possibily Nainggolan. Half of Belgium NT. Plus Charly Musonda a full time international in the near future. All this for a fucking title that has done more harm than good. Let that sink in. Mourinho you sick human being.
