Styles 9,790
Hmm. I think that's a bit unfair to say. I'm not really defending Marin but...1. If KDB didn't go out on loan, he wouldn't have developed as nicely as opposed to him staying here...2. KDB has played a lot more than Marin, granted with poorer players but still - if you look at the goal+assists ratio's then it isn't that impressive. KDB isn't really that much of a stats player anyway but yeah.WHAT!?! 7 goals and 9 assists from (mostly) a deeper role in midfield for a rubbish team battling relegation and that isn't impressive?!?! Imagine what he'd be doing playing with better players? We're on course to play 69 games this season. Players like Mata, Hazard and Oscar have had to play almost all of those games because the likes of Marin are rubbish and aren't trustworthy when healthy. The Mak 4,459
KDB in pre-season looked like a player that knew he had to impress to avoid getting loaned out. He played like a desperate man in games that were essentially meaningless and the club shipped him out when he didn't perform. How can you judge him on pre-season games? Everybody was playing for fitness and he's out there trying to save his season. Stupid decision by the club.If KDB stayed this season, considering all the games we've had to play, he would have had plenty of playing time and would be playing with better players. I am 100% convinced he would have contributed far more than Marin.Oh I've absolutely no doubt he'd contribute more than Marin. There's no comparison. But would he have got enough playing time? I doubt it. Even if he did, he'd be under the microscope every game he played/came on; he doesn't have that at Bremen. Sure, he had to fight for a place, but after that he could play with next to no pressure. If he stayed here, I seriously doubt we'd be looking at the same player we are now. He's often been deployed out wide or even behind the striker...I did say that he's playing with poorer players and I did say that I'm not defending Marin's poor season here, but what I'm trying to get across is that KDB wouldn't have developed as well as he has at Werder if he stayed here this season. I'd rather have him as a starting player than him playing that squad role, it's done wonders for him. He's ready now to challenge the first team squad for next season - not sure we'd be saying the same if he stayed here. kellzfresh
LukakutoStamford 779
The loan was needed for De Bruyne, but right now he's an essential player for Chelsea for 2013-2014. If he's not starting then something has gone terribly wrong. He's starting for the Belgian national team and he's been their best player in most of the games they've played. Chelsea has no one that can bring the type of game he does. Mata and Hazard are different types of players but neither possess De Bruyne's long ball skills. If Chelsea doesn't want him he'll be starting for Dortmond, Bayern, Barcelona or Real Madrid in a couple of years.
Kojo 4,676
It would be very stupid to buy Schurrle and send KDB on another loan. Kevin show his skills in Bundesliga, he's playing very good. Just compare the stats of those two - Andre has 11 goals and 6 asists in the league while playing for the top team and De Bruyne has 7 goals (with this one which he scored today) and 9 asists while playing for the team which is at the bottom of the table and hes one year younger that Schurrle. So I dont see the point of throwing around 20milions on a one player and sending the another one (easily as good as that first) on loan.I can't believe so many people agree with you...Schurrle is a work horse, he is a completely different player to KDB, we need more players like Schurrle who will chase the ball and will try and get their head on everything. The MAZACAR is completely vulnerable at times, and we need more players to balance the system in terms of work rate, Schurrle also offers goals so he will be an asset to the team. I would be happy if we sign Schurrle, but as long as we keep De Bruyne. If it is to be buying Andre and sending KDB out on loan or not buying him and bring back Kevin then I have no doubt which option I prefer. He tackles, intercepts and does a lot of dirty work. Whoscored.com lists his defensive contribution as one of his strengths. If Hazard and Mata worked as hard as Oscar we would be a much better team. Blue-in-me-Veins 4,067
am i the only one genuinely concerned not with KDB's play but with what the Board are gonna do with him? I hate the rumors linking him with another loan spell or the idea of him even being sold. This board better not screw this one over, because this guy is immense.Just prayin the board dont mess this up. nono 791
We have a great young talent in a position of need and we're actually paying other clubs to play him. That's the mental retardation that's been ruining this club for the past few years. Keep on playing washed ups and pay huge money for has beens. The way of Chelsea. yuvala and Mufassir08
