If you wanna see the state of his defensive skills look at the last game where Rashford was running at him and Cahill started turning like a top. Exactly the same as when Lukaku scored on him. Today Rashford made a similar run at Luiz who wasn't fazed at all.

I knew this would happen. I know he is not everyone's favourite but people wait for him to have a poor game then pounce. The other 2 games against United this season he was top class. The game against City the other day was probably our MOTM along with Hazard but like I said then, you won't see much people giving him praise because he is the no.1 scapegoat. Opinions will always be divided but he has been a big part of our success this season. Majority of season he has been class. Not on level of Luiz but still very good.

Nobody is questioning any of that. People are discussing a much bigger picture.

Zouma has the potential to grow into an extraordinary CB if he can build up the understanding and technical side of his game, eventually I see him becoming that central defender in the back 3 or the one on the right he just needs to become more competent with his positioning at times and with the ball at his feet (ironically I'm going to use a = rather dodgy - comparison to young Micah Richards, he was a monster physically and used his physical attributes (pace and strength) to bail him out if he made a positional error/mistake, Zouma needs to build the other side of his game, which I feel he will to become a complete central defender), he will learn that, hes just recovering from a huge injury too with a new coach and new system. Next season he will be better. A lot better than Michael Keane anyway.

I'm not an advocate of spending money on anyone, but we need to start buying young English players for the long run.

Zouma seems to have regressed since his injury and just looks so out of place. We really shouldn't need another CB if things work out with the youngsters we've got (Ake, Christiansen, Zouma, Miazga, etc). I just have my reservations with Conte giving them any run of games.

I think it's more about people voicing the obvious instead of using him as a scapegoat. That title lies with Costa ahead of anyone.

He has had good games here & there in the past, but he just looks all over the place when he comes up against anyone that plays direct. We need to be striving for a back three that are of a similar level going forward.

Christensen and Ake are homegrown, that's more than enough for me tbh. And we'll probably keep Cahill next season. So that's 3 HG CBS.

Ake's going to stay having been stuck on the bench since being recalled. I would have second thoughts on that.

Are they allowed to switch armbands on the pitch like that in the PL? I thought it was allowed only when they are substituted....also doubt Terry would have taken it even if it was handed to him.
