Jase 43,479
An article on the Terry-Cahill partnership for England and bit of praise on Cahill too.http://www.guardian....land?CMP=twt_guThere is reassurance to be drawn from the balance offered by that backline, with Hart a world-class talent and the Chelsea connection impossible to ignore. While Johnson's days at Stamford Bridge already feel distant, the three at his side have grown used to performing together since Cahill's £7m arrival from Bolton Wanderers in January. Part of the attraction of plucking the 26-year-old from a relegation struggle – the price tag aside, given he had entered the final six months of his contract – had been the success enjoyed by England whenever Terry and Cahill had been paired together at the higher level.Under Fabio Capello, and in the absence of the injured Rio Ferdinand, they had thrived, starting the qualifiers against Bulgaria, Wales and Montenegro in the autumn. Phil Jagielka and Joleon Lescott may have excelled against Spain in November but the manager reverted to type for the victory over Sweden a few days later. Cahill appeared to grow with Terry at his side, the influence of the more experienced international very apparent. Joining Chelsea mid-season offered André Villas-Boas, and then Roberto Di Matteo, an opportunity to tap into an established understanding. Terry enjoys sitting on the left of the pairing, Cahill settled at his right, taking it in turns to leap into challenges: it seems a natural fit."They're clearly both top players, that's the first thing," said Frank Lampard when asked to consider his club-mates' attributes. "As soon as they were put together, they complemented each other straight away, and there are similarities to their games. They are determined. They both throw their bodies in the way to make the blocks. They put their bodies on the line. The home game in the semi-final with Barcelona was a great example of that. I don't want to take anything away from the other players in our squad, and there is competition for places, but, at Chelsea, as a partnership they've worked very well."The victory over Barcelona at Stamford Bridge in mid-April became the template for the side's progress in the latter stages of the Champions League, even if they benefited hugely from the visitors' profligacy that night. There was still confidence to be taken in their refusal to shrink as Barça flung everything at them, and Cahill excelled. He appears to have improved markedly from the rather nervous showings that typified his early days at the club, a player who had toiled in defeat at Napoli ending as a tower of strength as Bayern Munich were restricted at the Allianz Arena. Terry was suspended that night, but Cahill capably filled the void despite being short of match fitness, barking orders at David Luiz – who was struggling with his own hamstring injury – to make sure the Brazilian retained his discipline and Chelsea their shape. Hodgson had visited the victorious dressing room after that success to offer his own congratulations to the English contingent. He must have been encouraged at much of the resilience he had witnessed.Just to add, neither Chelsea nor England have lost when Terry partners with Cahill in defence. For Chelsea:P7 W4 D3For England:P4 W3 D1

OneMoSalah 8,886
If Cahill misses out on the Euros its better for Chelsea imo. Means he doesn't risk an injury, might not happen buts it better to be safe and not sorry isn't it.

But there is a little part of me that is gutted for Cahill on a personal level -- representing your country in a major competition is a serious personal achievement for any athlete

Jase 43,479
Cahill set to undergo another scan but the news is there is no major damage to his jaw after the first scan. at Mertens!Terry will also have a scan on his hamstring today.http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/gary-cahill-facing-second-scan-861046England are still sweating on the fitness of Gary Cahill, with the Chelsea defender set to undergo a second scan on the jaw injury he suffered during England's 1-0 win over Belgium at Wembley last night.Roy Hodgson's injury crisis ahead of Euro 2012 deepened last night after Cahill was forced off after less than 20 minutes while fellow central defender John Terry also suffered a hamstring strain.Cahill's hopes were boosted this morning after Football Association director of football development Sir Trevor Brooking hinted an initial scan last night had cleared him of major damage. The Chelsea defender is due, however, for another test before his Euro 2012 fate will be known, while Terry is also due to have a scan this morning. Jype 6,398
So they've now replaced Lampard and Cahill with Henderson and Kelly. Good luck to England for the Euros, they're going to need lots of it with all those second rate footballers Hodgson has brought in from the team that finished 8th in the league.Too bad for Cahill though, his first chance to shine at international level and now he gets injured in a friendly match. Once again those pointless games are ruining players' dreams.
