Ex-Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo has advised Frank Lampard to join Lazio. “It would certainly be a good choice for both parties. I’ve given him my opinion.”

He played for the Biancocelesti in his career and talked to Sky Sport Italia about the reports linking Lampard with the Olimpico club.

“Lampard is a great player and a great professional, so I am certain he can play at least another two years at the top level,” said Di Matteo.

“I don’t know if he will join Lazio or not, but it would certainly be a good choice for both parties. We often talk and I gave him my opinion. At the end of the day he will make the decision.”

Hope everybody who wants him to sign a new contract was watching yesterday. Another year of Lampard is definitely not what this team needs.

I'm going to put it out there. I think he has been shit for most of the season.

Like today, like against Swansea, like in the CWC final. He goes through far too many long periods (or today about 99% of the time) where he is completely anonymous. Even in games like Everton where he glittered with praise for his goals and the club being bad mouth for not giving a 100 year contract, he went through a lot of the game completely over run and unable to get into it. Even with his goals,over half of them have been from the penalty spot, which generally does not reflect general play in midfield

But I'm just sick of how he seems to be exempt from criticism by fan and pundits. He carelessly gives the ball away for the first goal, never gets called out on it and Turnbull gets the blame. Ramires gives the ball away for the penalty, both he and Turnbull immediately get stick by some. Fuck it even though Torres scored the equalizer that saved us from an embarrassing defeat, expect all of the posts on his thread to be how shit he is and ow dirty they feel that he scored. I cringed when Lampard made a hit and hope shot easily be saved by the keeper, and all the crowd were shout "Super, Super Frank" even when he was utter dog shit. Its as though of the potential record breaker most people are blinded that he not been good at what he is suppose to be doing in the double pivot. I'm sick of all the media circus bad mouthing Chlesea and demanding to give him a new contract when to me (apart from the goals) he has done noting in my eyes to get it.

I keep hearing how his leadership and experience is so important to help guide the team. Don't make me laugh. QPR, CWC final, both Swansea games, Southampton at home, today. His experience was there for all of us to see and enjoy .

But he offered absolutely nothing to the team today. He offered nothing against Swansea. He was anonymous in the second-half against Arsenal. He's a legend and one of my all-time favourite players, but I don't see the point in keeping him around like he's a mascot on Blockbusters.

So now if the team don't win it is lampards fault, and if the team wins, lampard had nothing to do with it. If he scores, he went missing for most of the game, or it was only a penalty and everyone scores them etc.

I.e. today. He didn't play well, 4th game in something like 11 days. But neither did Cahill, JT, Bertrand, Marin, Ramires, Turnbull etc. First half everyone was bad...

How about you actually address the points? Our problems in the last few games have stemmed from midfield, and I've been equally critical of Ramires for that. Neither of them is good enough, but the simple fact is that Lamps is going to be 35 in a few months, is out of contract and simply doesn't fill the position we're asking him to fill which makes your suggestion that he should be given a TWO year contract without question somewhat absurd.

I've loved the guy for years, but that guy wearing the number 8 shirt at the moment isn't that guy. It's sad to say that but this club will continue after he's gone and it's looking like we're going to have to move on.

Mata isn't coming to the end of his contract though. Mata's best position still exists in our side. Mata is still a very young man, and if we wanted to sell him then we could probably get around £30 million for him.

They do not work together, that is something i have never argued against. I also don't think that giving him a contract means he will be starting every game. I just think he is still a very useful player for us. As i and many others have said before, if he wants to be playing every game for another 2 years and decides that he wants to leave then that is another matter, which is irrelevant to what we are discussing atm. 2 Year deal, great, 1 year rolling deal, i would still offer him something that is reasonable to both parties which he can accept or decline.

Obviously, i was just making the point that regards to him having bad games, i wouldn't want to sell him in the slightest as he is so valuable to us. Lampard isn't allow bad games because he is older and is running out of contract.... Everyone is allowed bad games.

I think we are idiots for not offering him a contract (that is reasonable to both sides). As i have said he can then accept that or not, but he still has a place in this team should he want to stay here... It won't be in the starting lineup all the time, but he still has a role imo.
