If for anything else i would want Lampard first choice when on the pitch purely to boost his chances of breaking the goal record!

When not on the pitch then Hazard. For someone so young yet so composed is a big positive that we should make the most of. He will get his fair share over the next couple of seasons when lampard isn't on the pitch and then can take over full time when lampard steps aside.

it would suck not seeing a classic lamps penalty. if i had to choose i would pick Mata or Ash. sure Mata has missed a few but i have faith in him. and that pen Ash put in for the Champions league. it was literally unsaveable. so its either Mata or Ash for me

Keep Mata away from them, I think Ashley Cole should be second choice. Great record in shootouts before the England Italy game and left footers are generally better Penalty takers in my view.

What is Cole's penalty record like? Think it's decent but not great. IIRC, he missed his penalty in the shootout against Everton in the FA Cup 2 seasons ago.

Can't remember what game it was in, but I remember him being offered the chance to take a penalty and he refused.

Agree with that though I still have question marks over Luiz's penalty taking ability.

What about Meireles though? He looks capable of taking one. Has he taken before in his career?

Meireles seems to have the power and technique but I have never seen him take a pen.

Not sure to be honest, But he did score in the two Champions League finals, he did miss that one against Everton, but he did get two huge ones, Especially in the CL final after Olic missed, that was a huge one.

People are saying who our number 2 penalty taker should be with Drogba not here and Lampard not going to always be on the pitch. I am pretty sure, or would hope that no one thinks Lampard shouldn't be our number one penalty taker.

But he approaches the ball at an angle and it it is a give away to the keeper because if he goes to the keeper's left, he should wrap the foot around the ball and to the keeper's right, he should slide it away.
