Bacika 188
I just wanted to mention Ronaldo Brazilian of course...he was the best player of his generation for me....Messi is the best today..but Ronaldo is something special...best goalscorer of the World Cups... Badboy 1,526
I know i might sound crazy here but i would of like to of seen what Arjen Robben would of been like if he did not break his foot against blackburn. That boy was electric but that injury took 40% out of him in my opinion. I think Messi is an incredible player and probably the best today but Zidane was a player then what Messi is today. Zidane Romped Euro 2000 like it was his tournament and he completely took Champions league season 2001-2002 ! Zidane is not put up with Maradonna and Pele because he was a late bloomer but he was better then Messi no doubt !
Ollie 4,400
We can debate era's, positions, quality of team, quality of players around him giving him his service etc etc but the fact is, he's a genius and easily the best player of this generation. Kostas 1,468
The best as in the most talented footballer of the most effective? If it's the former I can think of a few players over the past 15 years who could challenge him, if it's the latter he's got quite a shout to be thy bestest evar. Nevertheless at 23 he's already earned a spot in the top 10 or even top 5.Club and and NT achievements mean fuck all to me in such debates, can't believe people still confuse how good a player is with what he has won. Ronaldo never won the Champions League. End of discussion. On another note, I admit being biased but I just can't get over the human hormones thing. Ollie 4,400
Maradona never won the Champions League either and Messi has already won 3. I hate this shit about what he's won too and the 'without Iniesta and Xavi he's nothing' i don't understand that at all. Makes no sense. robdog 2,084
How can someone say Messi without Xavi and Iniesta is nothing, do they help him dribble past players or somethingBy looking at plays like this:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1p1gbM3n2bcFunny da messiah gets a free pass when we speak about playing for one's nats. I saw The Real Ronaldo do good for Brazil. Same w/ Ronaldinho. What about Zindane??? Did we not see him lead France to Glory 10 years ago?? So I you want to anoint da messiah as the best you ever saw, then go ahead it's your right. Just don't expect everyone to jump aboard. coled 2
He reminds me a lot of George Best, the way he skips past people, same style.1 of the best, but never won world cup with a fantastic squad.Doesn't look like it will happen either. blue out west 27
Ronaldo was a far better player, Serie A was a superior league and his side didn't get to play by a different rule set than their opponents. Messi is obviously a top talent but I don't put him above other elites like Cristiano, Drogs or Eto'o. These guys have won domestic titles in much more competitive leagues and won CL while competing in those domestic leagues. La Liga is soft and Barca gets protected like crazy, their players can coast through games barely being pushed. I think a lot of players that aren't seen as elite would put up elite numbers and look the part if they were popped into the barca squad. BlueLion. 21,491
The difference between Messi and the obvious greats, ie. Maradona, Pele, Eusebio, Ronaldo, Zidane et al., is that he has yet to make the same impact at international level. I appreciate many view things such as the UCL as a more difficult competition, but the complete footballer should star for club and country. Great players, good team, but Real and Barcelona are out of this world. Now these two players are cracks in EPL!

Kostas 1,468
I thought you've been here long enough to realise the repeating the same point over and over and over and over and over again doesn't work on us. Providing better arguments and explaining your view is usually the shorter and more efficient way.
