In the old NFL, he would have gotten killed, but in the new NFL mobility is important and he's thriving. (Until he takes a hit. Mobile QBs are short term because they take too many hits.).

But in a one off game like the superbowl, he can just escape (most of the time) and if he looks and doesn't see much he can easily get out the pocket and look to pass or just run it. Especially when you got someone like ray lewis as a middle linebacker, who is beasty but has 0 chance of catching him.

You can't know all the time. Every mobile QB from Randall Cunningham to Michael Vick just ends up taking too many shots. They get concussions, legs broken, ribs cracked, etc..Look at RG III this year. Concussion, he needed LCL and ACL surgery all in his first year. Pocket QBs are less versatile, but have a longer shelf-life.
