Jase 43,479
You guys obviously don't look at numbers. Leading the bundesliga in assists, 3rd with 16 goals. Heart and soul of the 2nd team in that league. He's 24..I'm sorry but numbers don't always tell the whole story. Heart and soul of the team yes but maybe that's because he's just better than the rest (which he arguably is). He's good but nowhere near great and/or as great as you made it out to be (especially in regards to your last post).

He's gonna be the Bundesliga Player of the Year and probably German Player of the Year. Dortmund is stacked with great talent, Gundogan, Lewandowski, Blasckyowski, Mhkitryian. I stand by my top 10 player in the world claim.

Nike 373
I wonder how much Juan Mata's ability to speak english helped in his transition to english football/Chelsea..Watching interviews of Aguero, Tevez, Oscar, Ozil, Coutinho, etc, if they were able to speak english a bit better, how that would have a direct correlation with their performance... Ability to speak the language have a direct correlation with their performance? That's kinda nonsensical. Tevez could hardly speak a word in English during his time at West Ham, United and City and that didn't stop him from performing, did it? There are a lot of factors that affect performances of players from abroad and the ability to speak the English language is the least important/relevant of those factors. In your company, if you speak different languages, how is your combined work going to be the same if you were able to speak one universal language. If this forum allowed different languages, how would this forum be as good as if it was only one language? Tevez at city had a team that could speak spanish and balo/mancini with italian. Yaya was able to speak spanish as well. Also, Tevez got along with Evra/PJS more than the others. Aguero never improve his english, but he is in a team of all people that can speak spanish, including the manager. Speaking the same language is relevant, especially, when your the number 10, but your probably to young to understand it.

I never said it was irrelevant but rather the least relevant compared to other factors. Speaking of the comparisons, it feels somewhat incomparable as if you can't speak the same main language that the company or forum is speaking, you wouldn't even be hired or be inclined to join the place.Tevez at city had a team that could speak spanish and balo/mancini with italian. Yaya was able to speak spanish as well. Also, Tevez got along with Evra/PJS more than the others. All about Moreover, even if Mata hadn't learned English back then, he would still have team-mates/staff that can speak Spanish and other languages. Speaking a universal language within the country of football you're playing in is important but I really don't think it has a massive correlation with the performances like you're making it out, just more so with speaking with your team-mates/staffs. And it's not like people these days are just limited to speaking one language only as they are much more multilingual now.Speaking the same language is relevant, especially, when your the number 10, but your probably to young to understand it.Oh the joy of Internet these days that people can't seem to throw in some small jibes when the situation didn't even call for it. It's hardly as significant as you're trying to make it seem, especially when you have team mates and managers that speak multiple languages. nyikolajevics
Jase 43,479
In an interview with the Guardian, Mata said this (and amongst other things)...http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/may/09/juan-mata-manchester-united-chelsea-transfer"It was a long week," Mata admits. "Mentally, it was complicated. It was hard to leave Chelsea and I'll always be grateful, but at the same time I was joining a great club. I spent virtually the whole time at home with my family, trying to stay calm, waiting, watching time pass, watching films and series, checking the phone. I went to the gym to make sure I didn't lose shape, because I hardly trained [with the team].Lots of team-mates are friends and they call. Not to gossip, but to ask how you are, to be by your side. I'm still in touch with people at Chelsea: there are good people in that dressing room, friends for ever. Everything depends on the club more than the player: the quantities, the paperwork."Perhaps the surprise was how apparently amicably the deal was concluded, testament to the skill of the agents handling negotiations. Mata played his part too; Chelsea supporters admired his handling of it, appreciating the letter he addressed to them. "Class", was the conclusion."I didn't do that for image's sake," he says. "I wanted to feel at ease with myself, do the right thing, express how I felt about Chelsea. In the end, everyone was conscious of what the situation was. They realised this was the best solution for everyone. I will always be grateful to Chelsea, to the players, the directors, the owner, the fans …"Was it necessary to leave? The helicopter ride had the feel of a rescue mission about it, but did Mata feel like United had rescued him? There's a pause. Mata speaks calmly, slowly and thoughtfully."Like any footballer, I love to play, I love to feel important, I love to enjoy the game. I'll always be proud to say I played at Chelsea, at Valencia, in the youth system at Real Madrid, in the youth system at Real Oviedo, and for United …"...Did you ask José Mourinho why you weren't playing? "No." Why not? "Because I didn't consider it opportune." Did he offer an explanation? "No. We never talked about that. Nor would we. When I played, I played. He would give me instructions. There are coaches who explain but others who don't think it's necessary. That's all." Muzchap

Ledg 643
^ Reminded me of his goal vs City in one of the friendlies after last season. Who would back then that a year later he's going to have a pre-season tour with United and not with us... Always gonna miss the little magician. Give so much for so little time. I hope we'll find a good number 10 soon enough. Muzchap and Vybz Kartel
different level 1,056
4 months after we sold him it still feels weird seeing him in the red shirt. Approximately an year ago he'd just won our player of the year award for the 2nd time and it looked like he was destined for greatness with our club. Just goes to show how quickly things in football can change. Kinda sucks he didn't stay to fight for a spot despite all the talks that he doesn't fit in Jose's system, but guess that's the difference between true legends like Lamps and Mata...
