Chelsea played in a 4-2-3-1.

Really interesting. If Villas used in this game, it means might use something similar in PL.

Liked this. Different from the outdated 4-3-3 with Mikel+Lampard+somone else in the mid.

Perhaps VB is right. Maybe we dont need an overhaul, maybe all we need is a manager with refreshing ideas.

Again biggest problem...Torres. Drogba's involvement in the game alone means he should get the nod ahead of Torres. Torres movement is shit. Where was he when PF crossed that ball.

I was quite shocked by him in that particular chance. He didn't even try to sprint and looked like he couldn't be arsed.

All he needs is more confidence. Player without confidence cant even sprint.

But i still think we have to do more vertical passing then sideways passing we have practice so much.

I've been using 4-2-3-1 on FM for years, fucking Villas Boas taking my bloody tactic.

:goodpost:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but i think Mourinho also uses that tactic at real?

Exactly. Honestly, the way he plays at the moment, he doesn't deserve to make the team.

And to the above post ^^ you will never drop the price tag stuff, everyone will go on and on until he produces what we brought him for, goals. He doesn't even look close to the player at Liverpool. To me he hasn't even shown a tad, a glimpse of what he can really do. I don't think he has improved that much either. He doesn't drop deep to collect or run and if he carries on I genuinely think he will hold the team back. Don't get me wrong I hope he comes good. But his touch is dreadful, pace average. finishing woeful. our first choice striker....really?

But actually 4-3-3 isnt that different than 4-2-3-1. The midfielders you put in the squad decide if its a 4-2-3-1 or a 4-3-3, your third midfielder to be specific.

Basicly its the same.

But I agree with you, I can see us playing Lampard has a more 50/50 midfielder, a little more deep than he use to play, and than put Pastore in the middle of the

3 attacking midfielders. somthink like this will be very refreshing indeed:

----------Essien/Mikel--Lampard--------

Sturr/new--Pastore/benayoun----Malouda

---------------Drogba/Torres-------------

Btw, If sturridge will play like today, maybe we dont need a new RW?

Finally watched the game, and I liked what I saw. More determination from players to prove themselves, pressing and ball movement was better. I liked Sturridge, a real threat for the opposition defenders and an accurate finish with his right foot.

watched game last night when i got in from work. Well impressed with the lads, honestly couldnt fault any of them. Benny and ash stood out for me and also think nando took some more harsh criticism as he played some good balls, passed well and was unlucky not to have won a pen and scored when he hit the post. Josh really excites me and i think this is his year to really impact on the team and as for rajkovic. . . What a monster that kid is:) good to see chalobah on too. All in all i was happy with the passing and pressing and hope to see more on sat when we will face a more stern test. Come on chels
